I meant to plug these guys a while back, right after Tom turned me on to them, but there's a fairly obscure Baltimore-based band by the name of Karmella's Game who have a curiously well-designed website as well as a rocking album, The Art of Distraction. I saw Mike Crowley last night, and he was complaining about the unreliability of my music recommendations, so perhaps I should say more. I like this band a lot, but I like lots of bands featuring female singers and plenty of synthesizer. Others may find them less appealing. You can check out some songs on their MySpace page, though their most blogger-friendly song, "The Revolution Will Be Cybercast," isn't up there.

I'd extend that to almost all topics. You're usually thought provoking, but you're reliably unreliable in your judgments.
Put another way, you have a relatively low batting average, but you do hit some homers.
All my favorite political bloggers have crappy-to-dull musical taste (Matt's is just crappy), and the reverse is also true (work it out for yourself). One would thik it'd be possible to blog both well, but so far there's no evidence that I'm aware of.

Probably since they don't want to give away their best song for free. I do tlike that they allow downloads from their Myspace page, which isn't always the case.
This band is terrible! Terrible, I say!
If you want women and synths, check out Treewave:
http://myspace.com/treewave
(and no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just think if you're going to be highlighting a band they should be, you know, good)
The music isn't bad, but boy were you right about the web site. One of the more clever sites I've come across in a while.
Matthew, If you like Baltimore-based indie bands cum synthesizer, check out The Payola Reserve (www.thepayolareserve.com/ Alas, their lead vocalist, Ben Prager, is not female). They will perform at the Abell Avenue Street Fair in Balto. this Sunday the 17th. (Disclosure: I live on Abell Ave and ran the street fair last year. I'm also the Brookings guy who tattled to Peter Orszag a while back when you inadvertently slandered his Social Security book, which I copyedited.)

KG are tremendously appealing. I saw them play a tiny basement club last year and it was the most exciting show I'd seen in ages. I think at least some of the band members are still students, though, so they don't tend to get out of the mid-Atlantic area during the school year.
