Air Power

John Quiggen points out that part of the disconnect between the Iraq War revealed in the Lancet/Hopkins study and the Iraq War people think they know is that the American press does extremely little reporting on the air war in Iraq, even though US airstrikes are a constant feature of Iraqi life.

Oh no. More innumerate trollbait...

Murtha:

Our military has done all it can do in Iraq

Not our military, but our political leadership has brought war where there was peace, bringing hundreds of thousands of deaths, replacing a secular dictator with a far more fundamentalist leadership friendly to Iran, comparatively ignoring the nest of terrorists in Pakistan.

This war never made sense except for its political benefits to Bush and its economic benefits to Bush's supporters and family. It got Bush re-elected when he didn't know what to do about bin Laden hiding in Pakistan.

Hi. I think it should be spelled "John Quiggin".

Quiggin: "An average of 10 fatalities for each air strike seems plausible."

The Reality-Based Community strikes again! Woot!
