On previously made promises. Here at the Flophouse, we're all willing to accept donations. I've even got a handy PayPal account if you happen to be feeling especially thankful.

At any rate, I don't know how many people keep up with Spencer's blog (I could, I suppose, ask him...) but you should be. This post on James Kurth is great, though I'm not sure I can embrace his burgeoning Vince Young fandom. Just because you live with a Longhorn is no reason to hop on the bandwagon, especially in light of the surprisingly strong performance his alma mater turned in this year.

It really is bizarre that so many neo-con/uber-hawks really think that the U.S. can with a straight face say the GWOT isn't a war on muslims and simultaneously destroy muslim nations in its name. For example, even if Syria assissinated this fellow Gemayel in Lebanon, what are we to do? Are the Maronites really going to receive arms & funding from the U.S. 3 months after we RUSHED munitions to Isreal to "bomb Lebanon into the stone age?" Starting a fight in Lebanon isn't particularly difficult, it's establishing the peace. Also, the confessional system actually does deny Lebanese muslims representative democracy.

I hope Vince Young mentions your comment in his Canton induction speech about 15 years from now.

There is a strong case to be made that Texas underpreformed. Preseason they were #2.

I'm pretty sure the "strong performance" referenced Rutgers. (Check the link.)

Also, Vince Young is a very bad NFL quarterback and will remain so until he recognizes that his right leg should play a vital role in his throwing motion.

Spencer's best paragraph is his last; I love the analogy to Kremlinology.

No. Eli Manning is a very bad NFL quarterback. Vince Young is merely an OK NFL quarterback.

Are you really sure you want your home address so prominently and legibly displayed given some of the people on these here interwebs?

What Spencer really seems to need is some furniture.

It would appear that the actual address has been blanked out in front of the "Florida Ave NW" part of the envelope. Unless you think that mail would arrive based on being addressed to the "Florida Avenue Home for Unemployed Bloggers".

It probably would get through, if only by virtue of having Spencer's name on it. In general, postal services are amazingly good at delivering mail.

Sometimes I think Spencer got fired from TNR not because of his views, but more because of how he expresses them. Perhaps you might want to teach your house-mate, Matt, your own hedged-with-hundred-qualifications way of expressing things (I'm not complaining, I like it -- whereas when Spencer writes, I always feel that he's snarling, with teeth bared!).

Still, I'll keep reading his blog anyway.

TNR allows a lot of snarling, teeth-bared commentary. See Peretz, M.

Yeah, we smudged out the address to deter stalkers. The USPS (as someone mentioned) is pretty good about this stuff and really might deliver mail addressed that way (the ZIP code will get it to the right post office where they could look up our names) , but you can't read our house number on that photo.

Oops, my link was broken above. The Russian postal service goes above and beyond to deliver a very badly mislabeled package.

Curiously enough, iPhoto's "Retouch" tool is all I needed to blot out the numbers on the address.

Yes, and Vince is a pretty darn good rookie NFL quarterback.

Interesting how Vince was repeatedly proclaimed not ready for the NFL, while the likes of Joey Harrington, Eli, and now Brady Quinn have been stawartly overhyped despite all objective indicators. Which of these is not like the other?

I maintain that Eli Manning is a badly coached NFL quarterback who is very badly served by comparison to his brother. He has all the basics but just isn't there yet. He would be much further along if he was still playing for David Cutcliffe.

Vince Young is a natural, which is a good thing, because he has a lot left to learn. It's a shame the Titans screwed over Steve McNair, as Young could have learned a lot from him. On the other hand, he does seem to be learning well on his feet. I still think he was the cream of last year's crop, Leinert and Cutler not withstanding.

Vince will be a hall of famer and he showed why this weekend.

Sure, his throwing motion is a bit ugly, but it's effective.

He's a winner, plain and simple. And when necessary, he has no qualms about putting his team on his shoulders and carrying them to a win.

David Carr has all the right tools, great throwing motion, mobile in the pocket, strong arm, but he's a loser still.
