Read some about it here. I'm sitting on the couch next to Ezra waiting for him to finish a more detailed analysis.

Do you ever feel that the personal connections between a lot of the blogosphere effects your work? I feel often like pundits/wonks-- of both sides of the ideology-- are often just talking to themselves. It seems to me theres a serious risk of being in a bubble. I can't help but think that that might be exaggerated by things like going to parties with each other or, you know, literally sitting next to each other.

Any /Seventeen Magazine/ photographers in the vicinity? Sounds like the perfect shot for them.
Cranky
Damn, Matt. I popped over here from Ezra's site because he didn't have anything up yet. Now I find you're waiting on him, too. Can't you tell him to hurry up?

Stop being friends!
Over on dKos, it seems like Obama is destined to go through the same thing the Edwards plan went through, which is the scourge of the single payer purists. A lot of people equate universal health care with single payer and automatically cry foul when a UHC plan isn't single-payer.
Clark,
It's only an essay on a proposal for nationalized health care. You are serious policy dork/junkie if you can't want to read this one.
Should have been "can't wait", of course.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Not what I meant. But you knew that.
As a Blue Dog Democrat, I could never vote for Obama. He supports third-world immigration, which is driving down American wages.

I'd vote Republican, Constitution Party, or America First Party before I'd vote for Obama.
"Old-School Liberal":

Well, maybe, if you (1) have immigration as your single deciding issue and (2) believe Obama is considerably more divergent from your viewpoints on this issue than the other candidates.
Although, I've got to say, damning someone for "supporting third-world immigration" is obviously vague: how much immigration? And under what criteria? The category of "third-world immigrants" would include, say, Obama's father. Or, if you prefer, Chinua Achebe, any number of additional luminaries and less-prominent hardworking, honest people.
You might want to rephrase or clarify your problem, because to me it reads a lot like "Obama supports letting brown people in". As a criticism, this seems to say a lot more about you than about Obama. Especially when you promote the Constitution and America First parties.
"The category of "third-world immigrants" would include, say, Obama's father. Or, if you prefer, Chinua Achebe, any number of additional luminaries and less-prominent hardworking, honest people."
Obama's father came here to study but did not stay in the U.S. I would welcome immigrants like Obama's father, provided they adhered to U.S. laws regarding monogamy and child support. Chinua Achebe wrote a nice novel Things Fall Apart, I read it in high school. I'd welcome successful novelists like him too. I wouldn't welcome millions more unskilled, uneducated immigrants though. These tend to consume more in government benefits than they pay in taxes, the bulk of them -- Mexicans -- have a poor history of assimilating to non-Black, non-Hispanic norms of educational attainment, economic achievement, and lawful behavior -- even after several generations.
a poor history of assimilating to non-Black, non-Hispanic norms of educational attainment, economic achievement, and lawful behavior...
But they're not racists, you see, they're realists.
Chinua Achebe is a mediocre writer at best. In fact, he's terrible. The only reason he got his publishing deal and teaching position is through affirmative action. For those of us interested in serious literature (e.g. Homer, Vergil, Shakespeare), Achebe is a joke, an insult.
Stop the third-world invasion!!!!
Barack Obama hates the white race with a passion. And I'm not even going to mention his proclivity for raping white women.
My life's been basically dull these days.
I haven't gotten much done these days.
Today was a complete loss.
