It turns out that when Edwards got asked a question about nuclear proliferation he had a perfectly good answer. He said he's like to associate himself more-or-less with these sentiments, that we should commit ourselves to not building new nuclear weapons, need to lead an international effort to close the holes in the NPT, and I wish it had been in his prepared remarks because then I'd have them in front of me and I could quote him in more detail. Totally solid, though unremarkable, answer.

Matthew Yglesias is a disgusting pervert.
This is off-topic, but I was surprised MY hasn't responded to Marty Peretz's latest attack on him in the Spine. The response is sort of obvious (even if it's none too obvious to his fanboys in the comments section), but I thought you would respond to it.
Matthew Yglesias is a disgusting pervert.
Could there be a Matt/GFR all-porn-and-Hillary-bashing Bloggingheads on the horizon?
I think Edwards is giving a non-answer. It makes a nice sound-byte to speak of closing holes in the NPT.
Who could be against that?
But the problem isn't the treaty. Some nations who agreed to the treaty are breaking it. And others abet violators while not in violation themselves. And what happens except chatter and somewhat stern talk of more future stern talk.
Some nations never signed it.
So, what treaty changes are going to be accepted by nations that never signed it? Or nations already in violation?
When the Security Council will not cooperate in enforcement it won't help to revise the NPT.
(As somewhat of an Obama supporter) didn't he has do a lot of work on proliferation (especially considering his short career.) I think there was a lugar obama bill about this.
