Talk to Syria

Why does Rep. Darryl Issa (R-CA) hate America? Dhimmitude is just around the corner.

Rep. Issa is Arab-American, mind you. Dual loyalties!

Anyway, IOKIYAR doesn't necessarily apply in Issa's case. Click here for some crazy wingnuttery.

I thought Darryl Issa hated democracy -- if memory serves, that's what Democrats thought when some accused him of "hijacking" it when he organized the recall election of Gov. Davis in California. At the time, I remember thinking that using "hijacking" as a metaphor was a not-so-subtle shot at an Arab-American politician.

An unsupported tu quoque fallacy neatly tied up in an irrelevant tangent.

Excellent trolling, Fred.

At the time, I remember thinking that using "hijacking" as a metaphor was a not-so-subtle shot at an Arab-American politician.

I used to think the Right had won the battle against political correctness, but I was quite wrong. Once they discovered how much fun it is to play the race card and the like, they were hooked for life.

"An unsupported tu quoque fallacy"

I was pretty sure I hadn't imagined Issa opponents using the term "hijacking":

"The involvement of Issa, a little-known conservative, has allowed Davis and his allies to cast the recall as a right-wing attempt to hijack the Democrat-dominated state."

Fred, you'd have a point if it wasn't REPUBLICANS who noticed the Arab/hijack gag and tried to use it as though it were an intentional slur.

(Were you named "Charlie" in an earlier incarnation?)

I was pretty sure I hadn't imagined Issa opponents using the term "hijacking"

But you were wrong, apparently, since the only person using the word "hijack" in your link is an anonymous writer from the AP.

Steve: no offense, but it's not worth 2 minutes of my time on Google to prove to you that a Democratic opponents did accuse of Issa of hijacking the bill.

"Were you named "Charlie" in an earlier incarnation?)"

Jeffrey: No idea who you are referring to. Maybe you're right and the use of "hijack" wasn't intentional on the part of Dems. Of course, if they really wanted to be mean, they might have used the verb "carjack".

If they won't cooperate in the war on terror... Issa can retaliate with his specialty, stealing their cars !

Ethnicity matters. Issa is an Arab, so he doesn't like the neocons' bloodthirstiness toward Arabs.

It's just like how the neocons were exulting over Sarkozy's election -- they know that his beloved maternal grandfather, in whose mansion Sarkozy grew up, came from a family prominent of prominent Zionists.

Family matters. That's the way the world works.

You brought it up, so put up or shut up.

"Family matters. That's the way the world works."

Which is why your parents are brother and sister.

I actually kinda like the logic that says it's worth the time to find the wrong link, just not worth the time to find the right link.

In any event, I'm not exactly trying to prove that the word "hijack" is some kind of ethnic slur, as intent is basically unprovable. I'm just saying that anyone whose radar is finely tuned enough to pick up on that word and impute a racist motivation to it has achieved Sharpton-like heights of race-baiting.
