The Eames Era

22 May 2007 04:22 pm

Pandora kept playing songs by The Eames Era for me and I kept thinking, "hey, this is good, maybe I should get the album" but then rejecting that possibility on the grounds that the band has an annoying name. Then Catherine recommend the album, too, and I thought I should get over it. And, indeed, it's a good album.

As she says, "typical Catherine music -- sunny and catchy girl-fronted pop."

Does she usually speak in fully formed rock critic / record review type phrases?

when i was writing about them, i was thinking, "matt would really like this group." so, yay.

???

isn't a problem with blogging and bloggers and covering the election that a lot of the stuff that reaches indifferent swing voters (including some of the really good stuff, like lisa depaulo's consistently good profiles in GQ and Elle) like magazine articles, local newscasts, PARADE, et cetera are really hard to link to or impossible to find online? it seems like there's a disproportionate level of coverage given to stuff thats actually online, and an assumption that the easier it is to find online, the more power it has.

I understand, as I have a hard time telling people I like Elf Power.

Speaking of which, were you at the Pretty Girls Makes Graves show at the Black Cat? I thought the person I saw was you, and I almost said something, but decided against it, as there are a lot of facial haired-glassesed-sweatshirted guys in DC, and it also sort of breaks the blog social protocol, like seeing your third grade teacher in the supermarket over the summer.

Along those same lines, I would recommend the less summery, more dreamy Minipop.

Matt, you generally have super boring taste. This band is awesome. They're twinned with PAS/CAL. Or an improved Velocity Girl

pretty good. i followed a previous link to catherines page and i really liked mother mother. nice to get recommendations from some (relatively) youngins outside of pitchfork.

if either of you need an invite to oink.me.uk ive got some. ill consider others, too.

That was... okay. Female leads usually aren't my preference, but if your into less summery more badass/bluesy lead females (not a blues singer impression like Joss Stone), check out Miwa Gemini: http://www.miwagemini.com/

Her name isn't so lame either.

Did you read what that loser Marty wrote about you?

If you like bright, girly pop, also check out Mates of State.

Great - thanks for reminding me.

I just got turned on to Pandora a few weeks ago, and fell in love with it: it was playing on my computer virtually all the time.

Last week they shut me down, because they detected me committing the offence of listening from Canada (My IP address was apparently a giveaway - anyone know a way around this?).

So, (sigh), I miss Pandora.

PS. Seriously - anyone know a way I can make it seem like I'm listening from the US?

That was me.

Sure. Move to a real country.

"Sure. Move to a real country."

I can't afford the health insurance.

Well played.

Hey Alias,

I would love one of those Oink invites. My e-mail address is McCabe246@gmail.com . Thanks.
