Teamsters and UNITE-HERE decided that Mark Penn's union-busting may be a problem for them.

Now maybe someone can do the same with her ex-Lieberman foreign policy advisor. Maybe Kos?
She needs to fire his ass unless his firm fires the client. Immediately.
If she doesn't it's time for the unions to say the hell with Hilary. She needs them a lot more than they need her. If they get behind Obama or Edwards in force they can take her down.
Can someone tell me why either Edwards or Obama can't hit her with this? We know Penn is scum. If this is talked about more, Hillary is doomed. Are they waiting till closer to the primaries to get it out?

Contrast this over-the-top response to the measured way in which the actual unions have raised the issue. There's more to life than just ultimatums.
I have no idea earthly idea why Obama didn't take this shot. I know he's averse to anything other than his meta-shtick, but strategically speaking, it seems tailor-made. It would have peeled away the exact union primary votes where HRC & Edwards are strongest. He may have considered it too small a thing to dirty the halo over. But homeboy's not going to have many under-the-radar opportunities to score labor points without turning off the general electorate.

Never wound the king. They don't do this unless either they have to or she shows significantly more weakness than she has so far. There's a pretty decent chance she could be president someday, remember.

Let's be honest: hiring the union-busting consultant is going to be HRC's MO as candidate and President. She is going to be a very conservative, very DLC-type President - like Bill, except Hillary grew up as a suburban Republican not a poor Arkansas kid.
I think it is time that HRC's supporters as well as oppoents owned up to this. It is part and parcel of the package, not any sort of "mistake" or "oversight" on her part. She is what she is, and we are going to get the whole package.
Cranky
The unions really shouldn't need to be out in front on this. They obviously don't want to be. They are tied inextricably to the Democratic party for the next election cycle, and they need the allegiance of a Democratic president, even if she is the primary candidate least congenial to their agenda. It should not be the job of the unions to take down the most anti-union candidate - they should be able to work behind the cover of strong opposing candidates.
I'm very surprised that Edwards hasn't picked this up. He's clearly going for "contrast" in the early debates, and he needs massive union support to win based on his platform - it seems a no-brainer. I only hope that he's waiting until a little later to take this one on.
Look I'm a pretty realistic guy. I understand the limits of union power all too well and I know how feckless the likes of HRC can be. But it seems to me that this is pretty fundamental stuff. Penn and co. are engaging in an anti-union campaign for an employer. This should be beyond the bounds of acceptable ways for one of these so-called Democratic whores to make a lving.
I don't think the unions will issue a public ultimatim. But I would certainly let it be known behind the scenes that this is the way it needs to be. I would also reach out to both Obama and Edwards and feed them some talking points on this issue.
I remain dubious about HRC's strength at the polls and her ability to win a general election, even following the reign of disaster boy. I think she can be had by either Obama and Edwards if they run the right kind of campaign with the right kind of support. At least I hope so.
if she did let Penn go, she would still have him on hand as an unofficial advisor.
penn has been with the Clintons since Bill's first term.
Having Penn, who represents republican interests as well as union busting, and morris in the white house years, shows exactly where the clintons will go if she is elected. this is why I am so against her nomination.
As to the poster wondering about why Obama did not hit Hillary in the debate. he is far too smart for the easy cheap shot. He will bide him time for the right moment when he finally strikes, probably fall, it will make the most impact. why would he cheap shot her and water down the impact when he does go after her.
He is circling around right now.
it amazes me how people continue to misread obama and his actions. There are reasons
HRC has a realistic position on Iraq. However, this anti-union stuff is bad.
Edwards, Obama, or HRC would be alright POTUSes. It would be kinda fun to have HRC as President b/c it would be so weird and Rush Limbaugh's loyal dittoheads' actual heads would explode like in the Cronenberg film "Scanners."
But I can't stand Bill Clinton and don't want to see him anymore.
