This is definitely true. If you're working for a presidential campaign, you'd be well advised to very strictly avoid blogging unless you're putting the campaign's official message out.

I don't know. Is there any difference between saying something stupid on a blog and saying something stupid on Hardball? Isn't the key point here just to avoid saying things that are stupid?
Blah,
You're right, but that is kind of the point, someone who works for a campaign and goes on Hardball is generally on message and carefull not to say (knowingly) stupid stuff, they seem to think they can post stuff on a Blog that is more unfiltered and distance it from the campaign, as if the medium changes things somehow.
It shoudln't be that tough to keep straight, want to be free and independant and able to say whatever you want? No porblem, stay that way. But if you want to work for a campaign you give up that independance and can't say whatever you want anymore in any public forum.
People seem to think that Blogs are somehow different. A pretty good test is if the person said the exact same thing on Hardball what would the reaction be?
At least this liberal is not voting for Obama on account of this issue, as it shows that Barak does not know how to control the message from his campaign.
Bye Bye Barak.
I love people who try to pretend they're not voting for a candidate they already dislike on the basis of [insert irrelevant issue here]. You're not fooling anyone, dude.
I love people who say they're not voting for a candidate because of a fuck up made by one of their myriad underlings that was beneath notice of the candidate and will be forgotten a month from now, and say it's because of the candidate's lack of political knowledge.
Tony,
Beneath notice of the campaign? The campaign's general counsel is beneath notice of the campaign? Do you know what that means? What planet are you from?
Maybe the campaigns are just trying to be efficient and produce their Sister Souljah moments in-house.
Gene - too funny...
Does it disturb anyone else that an obvious jerk like Duncan Black this kind of influence in the Democratic Party?
Pithlord:
Yes, me. His fawning fan club commenting audience often disturbs me even more, as in: just another variety of the Rushstepper phenomenon.
