Fake Right, Veer Left

19 Jun 2007 12:34 pm

Following a very strong speech from Barack Obama at Take Back America, he walked away from the podium toward stage right only to realize that was the wrong direction and then exit left.

In the nature of things, the speech didn't actually break any new ground, but the charisma was on display and the material seemed much better integrated than it had in the debates. I assume the campaign will be working on getting transcripts and video up; I'll be watching John Edwards' speech.

"I can't turn left" - Zoolander

Hmmm. Did Matthew sleep through Bill Richardson's speech?
--------
"Presidential hopeful Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., addressed Take Back America earlier this hour, and as far as I know, this was the first time he criticized Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards by name for not supporting his position on Iraq: "I would leave zero troops behind, not a single one."

Hmm. I see that Hillary CLinton is scheduled to speak at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning. hee hee hee

Wonder how many progressive drunks, pot heads, and party animals will roll out for that one??

Plus you just know that all the hung-over reporters and bloggers (they're always hung over) who have to get up at 7 am to cover her speech will be in a foul mood and just itching to rip her to shreds. Hope Christopher Hitchens gets orders to attend. Why don't we all email the Atlantic and ask them to have Matthew attend?
(Along with his boss --so that he won't just copy down what's recorded on the conference blog )

Nancy Pelosi and --later -- Howard Dean get to have the last word later in the day.

I see that someone has been going to those DFA courses on "framing".

Wow, this IS a pivotal event, so let's recap:

Obama speech, very strong.
Obama speech, breaks no new ground.
Obama speech, more integrated.
Obama speech, displays Obama charisma.
Obama speech, then wrong way exit.

And the really great thing is we've got 17 more months of such jaw dropping events ahead of us.
