"If"

Glenn Reynolds once again busts out the passive voice stab-in-the-back. Note also the hilarious idea that something might happen "if things go badly in Iraq" as if at the moment everything's going swimmingly.

I think that what we can expect (once the national binge, and purge are complete) is the Second Coming of Reagan-Christ to restore our national honor, and the youthful good looks of Bruce Willis. I think it's safe to say that both Sy Stallone and Sensei Chuck Norris will return to Iraq to avenge our defeat at the hands of al Qaeda, Zarqawi, and the libs and return our imprisoned and tortured P.O.W/M.I.A.s (in a way we never would torture or imprison others).

Glenn Reynolds stabbed us in the back the day he didn't sign up for Vietnam so he could live to spout lies.

It's a good thing this is a theoretical question what with everything going so swimmingly in Iraq.

Between he and Ann Althouse, they just continue to confirm my low opinion of law faculty.

There's something fairly wrong with conservatives:

-they have their own schools (K-12 and even college)
-they have their own encyclopedias
-they have their own scientific theories
-they have their own version of history
-they have their own special churchs
-they have their own set of facts
-they have their own news network
-they have their own special newspaper

They've built an entire new reality construct that doesn't really exist. In their world, there is no war, just a few isolated dead enders. If the US pulls out of Iraq, it will be tantamount to stabbing the troops in the back.

I still remember those articles from the 80s where conservatives argued the same thing about Vietnam.

It's fairly frustrating to deal with such deluded people.

In Law at least, those who cannot do teach...or are Monica Goodling.

We need some additional bromide about those who attend Regent Law School.

When the fuck is a decent liberal going to call Glenn Reynolds out on bloggingheads? That bastard's evaded accountability for far too long.

It's not a crime to offer soothing reassurance to delusional people, Dr. Anatole. Freedom of religion and all that.

The real question is why supposedly rational people link to and publish his crap.

I couldn't find an e-mail address for you so I'm writing here. Those seven children killed in Afghanistan you referred to were held against their will by terrorists! The terrorists hoped they would be killed so they could be used as propaganda against the U.S. forces!! In another case two children were put in the back of a car so when passing by a checkpoint they would be allowed to drive through. After they drove through, the terrorists ran out of the car leaving the children in the back as the car exploded!! Another case: a six-year-old child was fitted with a suicide vest ad told to press a button when he got to the 'enemkky' forces. The child - fortunately - hadn't understood and when he arrived asked why he was wearing the vest. Thank G-d the vest was taken off of him! This happens again and again and again by these barbarians! U.S. forces are trying their hardest to avoid civilian - especially children - casualties! But they are fighting people who are willing to sacrifice their own children!

Chaya

Your post argues AGAINST this President and his efforts

W "cut & run" from finishing off the Taliban, Usama bin Laden and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and all so he could invade and occupy a country that was NEVER a threat to the US, and Iraq also had no car or suicide bombers during the worst days of the decades long US-backed Hussein regime

The incidents you mentioned involved the Taliban

Now, imagine all those US resources-lives, limbs, minds, financial and material-bogged down in Iraq instead utilized, wisely and logically, in Afghanistan instead

Of course, "wisely and logically" as it relates to human and material resource management from this President is a complete joke, as was shown by this Administration's absolute refusal to plan for any post-Hussein Iraq

That the Taliban is now resurgent, instead of crushed and buried, is ALL on W's head, because if he decided to wipe them out instead of cutting and running from finishing them off, then maybe the vile incidents you describe don't happen otherwise

Thanks to W's clearly hackneyed, hapless and incompetent leadership, the US military is badly overstretched, under-equipped and in danger of losing two conflicts at the same time, while at the same time Usama bin Laden is still free to green-light and bankroll further anti US attacks

"Mission Accomplished" Indeed!

So, can I assume you are not against the war on Islamic terrorism? I hope you don't agree with - what's his name again? - the one who says that the war on terrorism is a bumper sticker! But Saddam Hussein did have chemical weapons. What he did to the Kurds was a crime against humaity! And many believe that what he had was shipped to Syria before the U.S. forces landed in Iraq. I don't know what to think about Iraq any more. I live next door to our own Islamic hell hole - Gaza! Actually, the one place where I truly believe that freedom and democracy can take place if only the regime is overturned is Iran! The young people there want freedom desperately! There are beatings every day on the streets against those the regime feels is not wearing the right clothes or their hair isn't the right way. I want to know where Amnesty International is concerning that!

Chaya's a bot, right?

Bot or not, certainly not worth the effort to tackle so much misunderstanding in one post.

Chaya, you ought to be welcome in the USA. It's a much much better place to live and apart from 9/11 we have had essentially no terrorism here.

I'm sorry if you emigrated from russia and were required to go to israel. We need to get that fixed as soon as possible. There's no reason you should be stuck there.

If you lived here you would have a whole new set of urban legends to hear about, although there is some overlap with the ones you already know. I'm sure it would be interesting to compare and contrast them.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! I am certainly no bot! And I didn't make aliyah from Russia. I left the United States - which is on a fast decline because of the Loony Leftists - 23 years ago and have never regreted it! I actually feel sorry for some of you - at least you aren't frothing at the mouth like some of them do at Daily Kos. (or whatever the name of that loony left site is) Or at Huffington.

But I notice that none of you even addressed what I said about what is going on in Iran. I don't know what percentage of the people there want freedom; but the regime is making the lives miserable of those that do.

This expresses the reaity of the world's current situation:
