It's good New Republic versus bad New Republic and I'm afraid that while it's not much of a competition it's certainly fun to watch.

Isn't Kirckick something like 22 years old? Sure his post strikes me as inane, but on the other hand I'm wondering why anyone is paying attention.

I've reached the point where I can usually sniff out a Kirchick Plank post within a few sentences. If I'm reading something and lapse into thinking that Marty Peretz has started posting on The Plank again, I immediately scroll down to the byline and I always see Kirchick's name there.

I actually Googled his name once, just to make sure he was a real person and not Peretz's version of "sprezzaturi."
