I thought there already was a pretty boy-nice hair-lightweight undistinguished former two-term Senator in the race. Whoops, sorry, there's already a pretty boy-nice hair-lightweight undistinguished former ONE term Senator in the race, so there's room for Quayle.

I don't think Fred Thompson's hair is impressive at all, but otherwise Al makes a good point.

Quayle looks like a statesman compared to the leading R candidates, or the incumbent.

Fred Thompson was Senator for more than one term, so the post was clearly not referring to him.

Al seems to think he's clever.

It's funny how the anti-anti-Quayle backlash never arrived. Every other idiot who enters politics gets a moment where people start murmuring: "Wait! He's really not that stupid after all!" Even Bush has had a few moments like this, despite the overall downward pull of his record. But it never, ever happened for Quayle. He was an idiot from the first to the last, and will continue to be seen that way for the rest of his life. He just really is that stupid.

Fred Thompson was Senator for more than one term, so the post was clearly not referring to him.

Oh, right, Fred Thompson isn't a lightweight, because of all that added gravitas he got from finishing out 2 years of someone else's term. Great point.

Gravitas is overrated. What isn't overrated is intelligence. Quayle doesn't have it.

Quayle-Gingrich? Gingrich will provide all of the weight you need and then some. ('Cause he's so fat, get it?)

Glad that Al agrees that Thompson is lightweight and undistinguished (although I tend to suspect that he weighs well over 250).
