Pete Domenici comes out in favor of his own re-election campaign:

I have carefully studied the Iraq situation, and believe we cannot continue asking our troops to sacrifice indefinitely while the Iraqi government is not making measurable progress to move its country forward. I do not support an immediate withdrawal from Iraq or a reduction in funding for our troops. But I do support a new strategy that will move our troops out of combat operations and on the path to coming home.

When Domenici starts voting with Democrats to override presidential vetos, then we can start discussing whether or not he deserves any kind of credit for a deathbed conversion.

Domenici ... where have I heard that name before? Wasn't he involved in the Attorneygate scandal?

"Pete Domenici comes out in favor of his own re-election campaign"

Biggest laugh I've had in days - and right to the point.

Domenici says he opposes cutting funding. The fact is, that makes this a completely transparent and irrelevant position. The only way to stop the war is to cut funding, because anything else requires a veto-proof majority, whereas if you just don't vote for a funding bill, it ends the war.

We have to stop buying into the Republicans' premise that cutting funding equals lack of support for the troops, and get the word out that cutting funding actually means ending the war. And anyone who doesn't support cutting the funding is therefore a war supporter, no matter what BS they say.
