Has the world gone mad? Katherine Jean-Lopez points out that Rudy Giuliani is taveling to the UK where he will "seek Baroness Thatcher’s blessing when he delivers the inaugural Thatcher lecture organised by Atlantic Bridge, a think tank, in London in September." Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson have already been to visit with her.

Thatcher is their mother-goddess.
..who is society? There is no such thing! There are individual men and women and there are families...
Has the world gone mad?
Yes.
If they want to get some old lady's blessing why don't they just go visit Nancy Reagan? Unless maybe she's so fed up with today's GOP that she'd sick the dogs on them?

She ticked them off by supporting stem cell research.
Isn't she kinda senile right now with Alzheimer's or something? Did Republicans make Reagan do that in the 1990's, cuz that would just be cruel. Reagan has a son who is still a Republican. Why don't they get his support instead? Is he too tainted by Nancy's and Ron Jr.'s indiscretions on things like stem cell research and ballet and Nancy Davis's Playboy centerfold?
Re: She ticked them off by supporting stem cell research.
If I recall correctly, Baroness Thatcher is pro-choice. Indeed, you have to look long and hard in all Britain to find anything remotely like America's social conservatism.

That's the great thing about your base being too ignorant to know things like this while worshiping her as a surrogate Reagan.

Just Brilliant! This comment should be an article unto itself.
Reality Man: she has almost no short-term memory after a stroke. I'm sure I read about it a more reputable paper, but Google throws up http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=436287 with much of the information I read in the Guardian.

They don't care. Your Thatcher fan isn't a cultural conservative, they will be agnostic about issues like that. They like Thatcher for the Falkland's war. A war that theoretically Reagan opposed. They probably like her *more* for pissing on Reagan because the "Latinists" won out in the Reagan administration and she told them all to go to hell.
They are looking for someone who just invades where they want, threatens to use nuclear weapons, pisses on everyone elses opinion and gets what they want. In other words a successful GW Bush instead of a failure. Militarism trumps any other concern.
I think we should look at the UK in a different light, after the Blair fiasco. (The great unwritten story is the rise and fall of Tony Blair, and those who boosted him to a position of high power in the world.) It is sorta obvious that the Brits--at least the elites in the UK--would like to regain their status as regents of the world.
We should not be their enablers.
We are free people.
Yet more kowtowing to foreigners! Are there no real Americans on the Republican side? Nothing but Euro-stooges?
The Republicans have sunk so low they've made me feel bad about how people are treating Thatcher. Thatcher! The woman with no heart. WTF?
They go there, because Bush is poison here.

Not really, too messy and expensive, it's much more convenient to rule the world from The City.
I meant London's financial district.
Rudy should change his plans.
Ms. Thatcher believed she was having tea with a new resident
of the Home when Wrinkled Freddie came a calling.
Man, that has to be the greatest photographer in the world.
Because, y'know, she would so totally not look like that if you saw her in person.

Fer Thomas Paine's Sake, I thought we kicked their asses out of Yorktown 200 odd years ago. Now we have our own home-grown Traitors, er, Tories, recrossing the Atlantic to kiss their asses, er, rings? *blech*
