There's been some Late Night Shots-bashing going down, and I know a couple of friends who seem upset that an exclusive social club is coming to Shaw, but surely this -- the Young Consultants of DC -- is the most pernicious organization this side of the Young republicans. Be afraid.

Are these like McKinsey consultants or like political consultants? Because those are two very different flavours of pernicious.

I wish that Crooked Timber,etc would stop referring to LNS members as "preppies" or saying
they are from "good prep schools".

Those familar with "good prep schools" (the one in New Hampshire) know that the real club is the Harkness Club.

Rumor has it that is where John Negroponte learned how to conduct clandestine operations.

Andrew, I think it's McKinsey-type management consultants. My friend who works at Booz Allen is part of it (and yes, he's totally lame.)

I'm pretty sure Sam has this right. Both kinds of consultant are, however, pernicious. Indeed, as best I can tell all kinds of consultant are pernicious.

Don't go to show/u! Unless you're going to a rock music show, in which case you should go there 'til your heart's content. If it doesn't involve music, go elsewhere, preferably outside 495. Lots of options.

What is a consultant? Does it require some sort of certification, or what?

Young Consultants? What, exactly, are a bunch of recent college grads consulting others on? I mean, aren't consultants selling experience, rather than theorhetical approaches?
