A Confession

If ATA's 10AM flight from National to Midway crashes it's because I violated FAA regulations and wrote this post from my iPhone during takeoff.

I hope someone will let the relevant authorities know.

The rules just don't apply to you Bushies, do they?

See, and I would have thought it would crash on landing because Midway's runway is 30% too short.

What, no post alerting matthewyglesias.theatlantic.com readers that you have an op-ed piece in today's LA Times? After all the money I pay to read and comment at this site, I feel slighted.

BTW, this is what I get when I click on your LA Times piece:

D.C. elites want you to shush on Iraq

Be afraid when the same centrist consensus that has a lousy track record on the war lashes out at partisans.

The united states is now well into the fifth year of a war in Iraq ...

I like the doubling of "By" in "By By Matthew Yglesias" and the uncapitalized "united states". Makes me feel like home!

National eh? Fancy.

Electronics use is ok, as long as the TSA didn't let you take any precious fluids on board. No surrender in the war on moisture!

I hear the sound of a jet ... now there's a loud explosion ... a huge fireball ... oh, the humanity!

Personally, if I was flying The Airline Formerly Known As Valuejet, I wouldn't double-tempt fate by first using a restricted electronic device and then joking about it.

If someone you know is a huge fan of The Corner and seems strangely mute this morning, it's because Mario Loyola filed a real column on his way to Iraq.

As always*, Penny Arcade has something appropriate.

*"always" should be taken to mean [cough] percent of the time.

ATA is not AirTran, nee ValuJet.

You liberal elites think you can do whatever you want, dontcha?

no fair jinxing.

See, and I would have thought it would crash on landing because Midway's runway is 30% too short.

And that's a bad thing? If your plane ends up on Central Ave, you can just get off and catch a cab. Although getting your luggage out may be difficult...

Well that's one way to get the no-fly list.

Actually, you are all wrong. ATA is American TransAir, which has nothing to do with Valujet. ATA used to be a cheap, cramped service to Hawaii, and they eventually turned into a real airline.

Valujet merged with AirTran, a totally different airline from ATA.
