Friday Cardigans Blogging

Chris Hayes: "Ever wonder what happened to the Cardigans? Here’s your answer." Unfortunately, the video that Chris links to sucks. The truth, however, is that the Cardigans have some good post-"Love Fool" work, notably including "I Need Some Fine Wine" off 2005's Super-Extra Gravity:

So there. In other music news I just got the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Is Is EP and I see no reason that other Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans wouldn't like it every bit as much as I did.

The first two Cardigans albums were great. Then 'Lovefool' appeared and it was all downhill.

You fooled me, love. I thought you were referring to sweaters. Matthew, "pleas" blog more about fashion.

"Lovefool" is great. The best pseudo-Beatles song since Badfinger.

If it's up-to-the-minute sugary Swedish indie pop you're after, look no further than Club 8.

I don't know who the band is, but I was expecting a clip of Mr. Rogers, given the post's title.

Way to improve on my lame joke, bartkid. But god the cardigans suck, and no man should like them. Goes for the band as well.

'First Band On The Moon' is their best album, but 'Lovefool' is the worst track on that album. I doubt that many Americans have heard the first two albums, though, back when they were still twee. The Swedes do good twee: see Club 8, as mentioned.

And here's your Swedish pop motherlode.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs rock!

what a free fall

good tune.

Lovefool is kitsch. And it's catchy. But I forgot, it must suck because it's popular and has a melody.

yeah a good tune, for sure. maybe their best tune. not quite lucky 3, but a good effort nonetheless.

How can a mocking ironic song about sexual obsession be "kitsch". You got a private definition of kitsch?

Not only does the video suck, but it's over 7 years old. Doesn't really answer the question "what ever happened to the Cardigans".

'Well, here goes the last of the Brudenells!'
