I hadn't realized that Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson actually comes up in today's Post editorial about how Democrats should be grateful for White House concessions on the issue of whether or not White House employees, including Michael Gerson, can be made to testify before congress.

The editorialist speaks of Congress asking "permission" of the White House to follow up, should the "off-the-record" interviews fail to provide all the answers. "Permission"?!?
Congress should make this counter-offer: okay, off the record, no transcripts -- just a little "enhanced interrogation" on the first go-round.
Man, Armando I really digged you when you were still a Kossack.

The funny thing is there is no principle defended regarding executive privilege by Fielding's posiiton and WaPo as usual makes no sense in its position.
If they are going to discuss matter subject to privilege then it makes no difference if it public, under oath or with a transcript.
I say take them up on the offer and then argue that executive privilege has ben waived.
