The perennially underrated Foo Fighters cover Arcade Fire's "Keep the Car Running" and the results are pretty solid.

Eh. Moderate rock.
It only takes one wrong pick to lose all credibility.
That song reminds me of "The Drk Side" by Eddie and the Cruisers.
I love the Foo Fighters.
Why are they so underrated???
I think Grohl's song writing is too positive. critics are typically depressed. such well written, positive music doesn't appeal to them.
are the Smashing pumpkins that much better than the Foo Fighters? i don't think so. but they are a lot more depressing.
bottom line: critics don't take the foo fighters seriously, which is a too bad.
The Foo are dismissed because for every bit of genius like Everlong, they churn out some braindead tune like that "please to meet you take my hand" song which was too bland for even my vanilla rock roommate to listen to.
The Foo are rated exactly what they should be rated: an average rock band with a few flashes of brilliance (like their first album and Everlong, which is definetly teh rawk).
As long as we're touting our favorite bands, Andrea Corr has her "AOL Music Sessions" videos, done at an AOL UK studio in front of a select group of fans a few weeks ago, up on AOL UK.

"Shame On You" is an antiwar song you might want to check out. I'd love to see that song become the theme song for a Bush-Cheney impeachment movement.
Besides that, she's just cute as a button in her tiny skirt and dark nylons. (However buttons ended up being cute.) Even her shoes are cute.
Sure, it's pretty solid, but it's also almost a verbatim transcription of the original. I just don't see much point in doing a cover unless you have a new take on the song.
I always regarded the Foo Fighters as your typical semi-decent 'Alt-Rock' band (that is not a compliment), although I did love "My Hero", as I took it as a ode to Bill Clinton during the impeachment saga (it wasn't).
But when Prince covered them at the Super Bowl, I went back and paid attention, and they are pretty damn good, compared to their, um, rythmicaly/melodically challenged comtemporaries.
I'm with the dissenters on this one. Once Pat Smear split, though I cannot testify as to causality vs. covariance, they really fell off the cliff creatively.
Too samey and not like Ramones samey. Like oh, I dunno, Yellowcard samey.
U
Pretty good. Almost exactly like the original though....think I'll listen to that now ;)
i have the objectively best, empirically superior taste in music of everyone here.
We await your demonstration of your superior taste, oh might one.
The Foo Fighters' entire gig later on Friday evening for the BBC is available here for the next six/seven days. They reprised the Arcade Fire number as Dave Grohl claimed he wasn't happy with the earlier performance on the Jo Whiley show. It might only be available in the UK.

OK, we might disagree about the talent of the Foo Fighters, but Prince is simply awesome.
If the Foo Fighters are underrated, which I question, I think it's because fans remember what a tremendous drummer Grohl was back in his Nirvana days, and wonder what might have been, had Cobain been able to survive his depression and addiction and continue to rock.

Just saying that this kind of disputes over music always happen whenever anyone lets slip their own music taste. It is always wrong for some reason and someone has a better taste.
For me: The Mars Volta, Circle Takes the Square, Opeth, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.
Q.E.D.
I never truly got into the Foos, but I will admit to being impressed by "Best of You."

Speaking strictly soundtrack-wise, Matt, I am so glad I won't be taking a long roadtrip with you anytime soon.
(OT: The rendering of that molecule-sculpture thing on "The Colour And The Shape" (1997) was my work.)
