So I can pledge money to Gingrich? Seriously? Where do I sign up? I'll pledge him the whole 30 million if it gets him to run.
Eric is on to something.
A winning recipe for 2008! For whomever the Democratic nominee is, that is. I'll be Newt would be the only potential nominee with higher unfavorables that George w. And that's sayin' somethin'. Maybe if he wore Aqua Velva and smoked stogies, Chris Matthews would give him a plug.
Jesus, Douthat is desperate. People who want to be Republicans without seeming like weaselly, semi-criminal religious fanatics are between a rock and a hard place these day. Douthat will do anything for love. Anything.
twit writes: "Maybe if he wore Aqua Velva and smoked stogies, Chris Matthews would give him a plug." I understand he already has a plug that he wears every day. The Baby Jesus Buttplug. Google it. It's worth it.
Why not? Because the Presidency is beneath him Newt has always been an idea man, a big idea man. We can't waste him in the Presidency. We need him leading the convention that will rewrite the Constitution. That way, I would be able to get off the fence and just go ahead with emigrating to New Zealand
You know, for a long time I assumed that Douthat merely claimed he didn't learn anything at Harvard because he thought it was a good career move for a young conservative(*). But, with posts like this I tend to think he _really didn't_ learn anything there. (*)Sad that this would be the case, but you can imagine it.
He's the kind of guy that gets under your skin, in your brain and can give the heebie-jeebies to the most phlegmatic of Democrats. The Newt would be waayyy to easy a target come '08, and he might run just to prove he was right, that Hillary will win in '08.
