Everyone's sick of this by now, but given that these benchmarks are official US policy, check out Ilan Goldenberg's benchmarks fact check which shows that (surprise!) the administration's line is BS and we're not making any real progress.

Heads in the Sand
There really isn't much point in paying attention to the policy that's put out for the rubes, rather than the actual policy. The only benchmarks that matter are Republican, and they're in the Senate. Measured against its real goals, the policy has been a success so far.
