"Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend," by the Mr. T Experience. I'd totally forgotten about this one. Here's an "unofficial" video:
Here's Dr. Frank's blog. Green Day has sounder political views, but MTX is a lot more fun.

"Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend" was also a very, very, very creepy movie. I was probably one of only six people who owned this one on VHS. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104212/
Is it his admiration of Berman that you find politically unsound? To be fair, the guy lives in Oakland, a place so full of incredibly stupid leftiness that it'd turn Noam Chomsky into a Republican. Reminds me why I fled Wesleyan College---having never been exposed to dumb liberals before (growing up in the heartland, conservatives were the sheep, and liberals the clever ones), I was terrified that I'd feel compelled to shift right out of sheer annoyance.
I pity the fool who forgets the Mr. T. Experience.
Matty, here's your trio of sound policy wonks in action: http://instapundit.com/archives/020086.php On the roof of a photographer's studio in a corner of Hollywood so drab it gives Slugh a good name, the three members of Green Day are discussing whether or not to desecrate the American flag. Singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who is dressed in black shirt and skinny red tie, is cautious but keen, while bassis Mike Dirnt, who is bleached blond and much more aloof, is keener still. "It means nothing to me," he sneers. "Let's burn the f*cking thing." Only drummer Tre Cool, who is normally the designated prankster of the three and who comes across like Bart Simpson made flesh, offers the lone cautionary voice. "Isn't it, like, illegal?" It is reluctantly agreed that Cool has a point. It's all very well being punk insurrectionists but there is an album to promote, and nobody wants to face jail time. In the end, a compromise is reached. The matches stay in their box, and instead Armstrong spray paints the word IDIOT across the flag in large capital letters, grinning at this apparently considerable fate of derring-do.
If you click through, the objectionable Portman says that ain't MTX, but a cover version. Guys who write "King Dork" get a pass on politics from me.
Frank Portman has views, like them or not, but all the Green Day boys have is a series of poses. Big difference.
Wow. That Doctor Frank sure has a lot of nerve being a musician, writer, AND Republican. What a bastard!

I used to use the Mr. T Experience's version of "Up and Down" to end my radio show every week. Met Dr. Frank a couple of times, too, once in Berkeley and once in Dayton. He even thanked me from the stage in Berkeley for coming all the way from Dayton just to see them. That would have been, gosh, about twenty years ago now. Jesus I'm old.
