Well, hardly, but too much living in Washington, DC seems to have gotten to my friend the painter Ian Whitmore's head and his new show that opened yesterday Honi soit qui mal y pense includes some political work, specifically the Monomania Portraits series, that may be of interest to readers. Also this one is super-awesome, though I can't think of anything to say about it.

We get it. Not only are you from Harvah, you also have incredibly creative friends.
"Not enough pandas."
Terrific stuff. My hat's off to Ian Whitmore. Really cool.
You don't like my foreign policy blogging??
How about a portrait of George W playing a fiddle on the White House lawn with Dick Cheney and Lynn dancing a jig --while a mushroom cloud rises in the background? Have a few empty Jack Daniels bottles lying on the grass.
You could play with the color contrasts of pinkish glows on the cloud against a blue sky
a la the Venetian school.
And have them naked in a stomach turning way--drag in a little Hieronymus Bosch.
Call it "Exit Strategy"
PS Karl Rove done up in the manner of one of Soutine's rabbits would be nice also.
(Whitmore) describes his own canvases as skirmish fields where issues of form challenge content for supremacy.
That about says it all for me.

No, no, no. I go to Capps for art, and Yglesias for foreign policy.
