Best Debate Yet

09 Oct 2007 06:00 pm

We learned nothing new about the candidates during this debate, but it was a lot funnier than any of the previous Republican or Democratic debates. The candidates seem to have gotten some good joke-writers or something. The best part was when Romney said something like "this campaign is a lot like Law & Order -- it's got a huge cast, it seems to go on forever, and Fred Thompson shows up at the end" and then Thompson fired back: "I thought I was gonna be the best actor on this stage." Laughs all around. Plus: I agree with both of them, Thompson is an empty suit and Romney is a pathetic liar.

Fred was nervous. He couldn't handle the pressure - or something. Is he done for?

Ho, ho, ho, we're all so funny and pathetic...

Laughs all around. Plus: I agree with both of them, Thompson is an empty suit and Romney is a pathetic liar.

As special counsel to Watergate, 12-year US Senator, holder of blue collar jobs, actor, lobbyist...Fred Thompson has enough success and life experience to certainly fill the empty suit better than , say.....Barack Obama.

As for liars, hard to think of Mr. Goody Two Shoes as a pathetic liar when you put him up against the Clintons and Edwards.

As a trial lawyer, Edwards was groomed (oh, so well!!) and trained to lie whenever his lips move.
As for the Clintons, the sheer maladroit chuzpah of Hillary's many whoppers was cancelled out by the greater mendacity of Bill Clinton. Who was groomed to be a superb liar without the benefit of Edwards post law school training in being an adept liar.
Lies to his Mom and step-dad, lies to his paramours even after he was married, lies to the Draft Board, lies about pot, lies to his wife for most his marriage, lies straight in the face of the American people, lies in his memoirs out of office.

Spectacular! Because Bill got away with 95% of them.
Hillary can only hope she is half as good.
Bill Clinton was so standout at it that Bob Kerrey gave him a grudging tribute after Clinton BS'd a whole Democrat delegation so well that the bamboozled pack agreed with him even as they suspected he was lying his ass off:

You know, he is a good liar. Unusually good.

Hey Chris, did you know that "the British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa" ?

Chris-

And there you go. Bill Clinton is a liar, just not a pathetic liar, like Romney.

Admit it, Romney is pathetic.

As special counsel to Watergate,

Whoa, yeah, Mr. Thompson sure covered himself in glory back then: a mole for the Nixon administration, and someone that Nixon himself thought was stupid. Aiding and abetting a flagrantly lawbreaking administration, and dumb as hell. I can see why Chris Ford loves him.

Ha. Chris Ford, despite having excellent nba draft knowledge, is a hilarious idiot.

Rudi, Rudi, Rudi: how lucky you are that GOPers can't put two and two together.

Rudi is proud of going all the way to the Supreme Court to defeat the line item veto (which he "supports") because as Mayor he was not about to let Clinton veto federal pork (which Rudi opposes) for New York City. Consistency, thy name is Rudi.

But not to worry: GOPers will pick you anyway, because 9/11.

Fred Thompson gets way too much credit for being on Law and Order. People mention it every time they talk about him, as if he was the star of the show. But he was only on the show for a couple years, and for like 10 minutes per episode.

Fred Thompson was probably the most forgettable regular on Law and Order.

And the only thing Reagan says about Giuliani in his diaries is that he thought Giuliani was nuts.

Perhaps the GOP should just nominate the guy on Law and Order who went on to be Mr Big in Sex and the City and be done with it all.

I'd rather see Michael Moriarty, at least he was interesting. :)
