I'm fairly sure readers will be interested in John Maggs' excellent National Journal cover story on the blueing of the interior west and Virginia.

I'm afraid I just blue myself.
There's got to be a better way of saying that...
Yet when we looked at the polling maps that were linked to yesterday, Arizona and Nevada remained red in most scenarios.
The real question is how will politics function in the U.S. after the Republican Party collapses and there is only one relevant political party.
Will the former Republican voters moderate the Democratic Party when they start voting in the Democratic Primary or will the extreme left emerge as the most powerful since there will be no where else for voters to go?

Seems quite unlikely that the GOP will disappear, alas.
One can always hope that (relative-) moderates such as Arnold Schwarzenegger will benefit from the chaos, though -- at the expense of the current GOP elite.

Yup. Especially the part about the interior West, since it hasn't been covered nearly as much as Virginia. I love Janet Napolitano.
