Marc Ambinder channels some solid oppo research:

By the way: A wag working for a rival campaign picked up on Giuliani's criticism of George Soros today: “I think that George Soros and MoveOn.org is kind of a new low in vicious, politics of personal destruction…Every campaign I’ve ever seen from them has been about personally destroying the Republican".... and points out that Giuliani appointed Soros to a coalition opposing "Anti-Immigrant Forces" in DC.

Question: Which do conservatives hate more, Soros or immigrants?

Giuliani's grand strategy is the same as Bush's:

Invade the World
Invite the World

This is a trick question, right?

"Which do conservatives hate more, Soros or immigrants?"

Matt, does this count as the "business of ideas" in your book?

Yep. Trick question. Soros is an immigrant.

" Question: Which do conservatives hate more, Soros or immigrants?"

We'll need to ask Denny Hastert if Soros relies on these 'immigrants' in his drug smuggling operation to determine the answer.

Christopher - Was it just a coincidence that Denny Hastert decides to slander Soros (why would Soros need the money anyway) with that stupid foreign drug slander - recall around that time, Hastert was being accused by the FBI translator Sibel Edmunds of receiving Turkish drug money himself.

"... is kind of a new low in vicious, politics of personal destruction…Every campaign I’ve ever seen from them has been about personally destroying the Republican"

Bill Clinton invented this phrase "politics of personal destruction - if memory serves - It was ridiculed at the time by Rudy-types in the GOP. Anyway, someone should tell Rudy to stop plagerising. Most of Rudy's neocon advisors have the decency to wait the day after someone dies before they try to steal their phrases or claim their legacy.

That reminds us - Rudy quotes Moynihan often - Moynihan disliked Rudy when Moynihan was alive. But Rudy knows that he is not around to rebuke him.

and points out that Giuliani appointed Soros to a coalition

In 1996. Which was before MoveOn and Soros got together.

Pretty weak.
