I somehow hadn't realized that this afternoon's Wizards-Haws game, which wound up providing the 'zards long-sought first win, was even happening at all.

How about Yao?

Maybe because it wasn't at home? ;-)

First game Gil has looked right all year. Good god the Hawks need a PG, Josh Childress was handling the ball down the stretch.

is that going to be the new cool insiders nic for the team - the "'zards"? Please...

It's going to be a long winter...

Download the team schedule into iCal...

"Good god the Hawks need a PG"

Meh. I think a more pressing need for the Hawks is to stockpile a half dozen more 6'8" swingmen on rookie contracts.

You can never have too many of them, right?

Isn't Mr. Yglesias going to comment on the disgraceful performance of the Deadskins yesterday?

Re Deadskins

Expect to hear from Mr. Don Williams any time now.

Meh

The new "spot on".

(Can we lose that, please?)

I was aware of the game but for some reason it wasn't televised here in Athens, GA. The Hawks have plenty of talent. If they don't improve a lot this year, Woodson has to go.

"The Hawks have plenty of talent. If they don't improve a lot this year, Woodson has to go."

While I have no strong opinion on Woodson, firing your coach is just moving deck chairs around on the Titanic at this point.

Until your dysfunctional ownership structure gets resolved, your team will continue to flail about wildly.

"Meh. The new "spot on"

Actually, "meh" was used there to mean "not really", which is pretty far afield from "spot on".

Using a negative ironically isn't the same as using a positive, don't you think?

(Don't be dense.)

It's the new painfully cloying, borrowed word.

Meh.

Exactly.

BTW, I caught the Nets-Celtics game Saturday night and, damn, the Celtics look good. I had questions about their role players, but they were excellent on Saturday. And the big 3 look quite comfortable together.

Barring injury, I think they're the fav for the title.

Please don't let people here in Boston hear you say that. After the Sox win and the Pats dominance, everyone in New England has completely lost their minds. A Sox/Pats/Celts trifecta would be unbearable (bad enough to hear the local sportscasters talk about the "good guys" and the "bad guys").

The Celts are pretty good, and should win the East (assuming they stay healthy, which with the age of their big 3 stars is 50/50), but I think they'd have a tough time with the Spurs/Mavs/Suns/Rockets. It is nice to see Garnett, Pierce, and Allen playing with some talented teammates, Garnett in particular looks like a new person with some real players around him, the other day he actually smiled...

Al,

As the resident Nets guy here, talk to me about Antoine Wright and what we can expect from him with Wince on the shelf for X days

I thought it was Fanhood, as in, Does your fanhood need questioning?

Apparently, yes.

I somehow hadn't realized that this afternoon's Wizards-Haws game

Is there some new, expansion team? Maybe that's why you missed it.
