Back last season when he wasn't getting any burn, I'd be yelling "Blatche!" at opportune moments from my seat whenever the game wasn't looking very competitive. Well, thanks to the departure of Calvin Booth and the injury to Etan Thomas it looks like this season is Andray's chance to play, and everyone in the Verizon Center was going wild last night at his beautiful line of 26 points on 12-14 shooting plus eight boards and a block in 29 minutes. Breakout game, woo! And, yes, he still can't really play defense, but this is still the Wizards.

I was impressed with the Hawks last night playing without their three top point guards. They have a lot of athleticism, got behind by a wide margin and didn't pack it in for the night. If they can learn to play with the defensive intensity they had in the second half last night all the time, they could squeak into the play-offs this year.
I am excited about seeing the Magic and Spurs tonight.

The Magic made a very smart trade yesterday.
Welcome to Orlando/Boston, your Eastern Conference Finals.
I don't think LeBron or Sheed are going to have anything to say about that.
Years 5 & 6 of the Lewis contract are going to be a bitch, but it's sure paying off in the present, ain't it?

The Hawks managed to stay in a lot of games last year too. Winning games is a different matter.
And I want your squad in the playoffs this year, Curtis.
If the seeding works out, vengeance shall be powder blue.
"And, yes, he still can't really play defense"
Dude's averaging 1.0 SPG and 2.0 BPG over his last 5 outings...
He's got the potential to be a very good defensive player, though he's obviously still raw.

The Magic made a very minor trade yesterday.
The Powder Blue want us every year in the playoffs, come in all hot with the best record since the All-Star Break or the best record in April and then get creamed four straight times. If both teams come in relatively healthy, then you can expect Pop to put the Spurs in the best position to win the games and you can expect Karl to be whining about this or that in the post-game news conference.
I, for one, would rather face the Texas gauntlet to get to the finals, though that would also be the toughest gauntlet to get there. Whipping Denver and Phoenix is so blase'.
Fire Isiah Thomas.

I dunno, they were kinda thin, and Ariza was giving them nothing. I think Mo Evans is at very least no worse than Bogans at the 2, and Cook is an intriguing option to back up both Rashard and Hedo, though this could quite possibly represent the ugliest 3 man forward rotation in history. (Well, ok, Bird, McHale, Cornbread Maxwell retired that one ages ago, but still)
Gilbert out 3 months. Nice season you have there, shame if anything should happen to it.

Not like I was saying this 4 days ago or anything...

But, Matthew, please explain to me how you can post about Blatche this morning without mentioning his post-game quote last night:
Best quote of the millennium.

And I'm getting bored with my Powder Blues. It seems like they haven't had a competitive fourth quarter in weeks.
Winning and watching the starters joke on the bench in the fourth quarter is nice, but I wouldn't mind just a little bit of crunchtime...
