Patricia Butenis, deputy chief of mission in Baghdad, explains that constantly being at risk of being blown up is something you get used to. Some feel this may not be the best recruiting pitch.

Intentional OK Go song reference or just appropriate headline? It's a good one!
Lot of guns, body bags,
no clear goals, lot of unforeseen snags. Green Zone is a drag,
lot of fools, that’s why morale sags.
Oh it's such a drag. It’s a war! And the violence doesn’t halt!
Iraqis feel oppressed and, what's more, well it's all my country’s fault.
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
Get over it, get over it.
[Guitar solo]
Makes you feel like a shill
To be here, doing Bush’s will.
It’s a waste of your skills; makes you cry while
the blood still spills. Ain't it just a bitch? It’s a shame
Al Maliki is lame.
What left to do but complain? You better say Iran’s to blame.
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
Get over it, get over it.
I'm there now and I can't say it's something you get used to, but it is true that once you're here you do not feel under constant threat of death.
If you're outside, not under a hardened roof or moving on the road outside the wire it can be tense, but otherwise it's bearable but wearying.
In a diplomat’s life he’ll be threatened by some civil strife
Watch those poli sci types sacrifice for the Stars and Stripes!
Yes, there was a catch! You’re surprised?
Here’s some body armor for the flak
Learn to hug the ground, you’ll survive...
We’re gonna fly you into Iraq!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
(Hey!) Get, get, get, get, get over it!
Get over it, get over it!
So far, three State Department employees have been killed in Iraq, and only one was an FSO (the other two were security men). I'd take those odds (and the tax-free pay) for a year if I were an FSO.
I think the concern is how many are going to be left behind when the last helicopter takes off from the roof of the Embassy - and how long they will be kept hostages like the Iran hostages - or whether they'll just be beheaded right away...
I just hope Condi's there when it happens...and I can download the video of her being beheaded.
Well, you know Cheney will never be caught there...
