I watched that Polish election first hand, and it was really clear that, a) Mazowiecki was by far the superior candidate, as subsequent near Yeltsin-like incompetence by Walesa demonstrated; and b) that the bizarre and crucial Tyminski phenomenon was almost certainly executed by the KGB.
