It must be those damn diebold voting machines, because everyone knows Ron Paul is the true choice of Iowa (and all other!) Republicans.
This is an outrage. We need an immediate investigation.
Clever by full. He's good.
Dems:
630 of 1,781 districts reporting
Obama 33.20
Edwards 32.09
Clinton 31.77
Richardson 1.79
Biden 1.02
Dodd 0.07
Uncommitted 0.05
Repubs:
43 of 1,781 districts reporting
Huckabee 33
Romney 24
Thomspon 18
McCain 12
Paul 11
Giuliani 2
New Hampshire is gonna get pretty bloody as the Republican establishment reacts to this. I predict a riot.
I'm gonna get a good laugh if McCain can't do any better than 4th. Love to see Chris Matthews try to spin that.
And with 25% of the vote in McCain is still trailing the walking dead:
Thompson 3178
McCain 2638
Paul 2425
Just got back from my precinct. Out of 10 delegates, Obama (my choice) got 4, Edwards got 3 and Clinton got 3.
Hillary crowd - old people
Edwards crowd - union and old
Obama - minorities, young people, old people, young women and all the hot guys! The last being the most important...

If nothing else perhaps we can expect a Mick Huckabee weight loss secrets ("suction, trance, a little coke Oprah") paperback in the coming months.
Say: anyone watching Aqua Oscuro tonight on TV?
("What channel is it on Linus?")
The A/V channel.
("That's only on your TV set Linus.")
Oh.
Actually, it will be really, really fun now to see Russert and McCain on Sunday if he only polls 12% or less at the end of the night.
what's the best source for the real-time Republican results?
So will we get to see Liberman out there explaining how McCain finished in a three way tie for 3rd place?
A man can dream can't he?
C'mon Obama voters. Caucus like you mean it.
TPM just updated and still McCain trails the walking dead with 40% in, but not only that we have a Giuliani pulse!
Thompson 5950
McCain 5194
Giuliani 4901
Paul 4379
I'm looking at the NYTimes site and I'm confused. Why are the vote totals so much lower for the Democrats? Obama is leading the Dems with 11,000 less votes than Huckabee?
Matt,
Did you see CNN?
HRC won the CONSERVATIVE DISTRICTS with women (west near NE).
SO, Now do you think the Kerrey comment on Muslim and Obama was an accident? It was staged.
Clinton is a liar. Clinton and Press are a couple.
Reject HRC.
Freddie,
because Democratic results are delegate counts, not votes.
MSNBC says Obama wins Iowa!
(Which is, again, a big shock, because I thought that Ron Paul would sail through the Democratic caucus in Iowa.)
Oh. Thanks!
msnbc just projected Obama the winner.
called for Obama!
So did CNN.
SCJ thats all because the media is fully in cahoots with the demoncrat party keeping the true vote count from being known in which Paul got 90%!
did fred thompson do so poorly in the campaign because mccain wanted him in to give him a push into nh by dropping out?
did the 2% who decided to go for richardson ignore him today when he (sorta) said vote for obama?
what the hell will happen after nh if mccain wins and has to go up against huckabee?
how can a possible third place finish be spun by hillary?
the all-white iowa going for obama makes me excited. there was that whole "will they actually vote for a black man?" question and it has been answered. if huckabee wins and obama goes up against him, i will quit my job and work for him.
With a 5 point lead it's a trouncing; and HRC still can't eke in front of Edwards.
Up next for HRC? Celebrity Apprentice!
Good. If he'd finished as an also-ran it'd be very bad. I see him as a kind of '87 Minnesota Twins candidate. Perceived as "too nice", "naive" and projected to be a shade above mediocre but winning it all.
It's huckin hilarious!
What beer goes best with Schadenfreude?
Looks like Huck and Mitt at top with everyone else clustered in the second tier. Ron Paul was right behind Giuliani.
"everyone else clustered..."
but if fred drops out and gives his support to mccain, does that mean mccain really got second place? hhaha
Did I miss a major flameout or was Il Duce predicted to have that sort of embarassing finish?
According to TPM, Rudy got fewer than half the votes that Ron Paul got. Man, this is a good night.
Hum,
Rudy ceded Iowa a long time ago. His strategy has been to clean up in the big states on 2/5.
I know that, Fred, but you can't just wave away the symbolic value of this. Rudy came in an extremely anemic 6th. The only guy he managed to beat was Duncan Hunter, who no one, including Duncan Hunter's mom, takes seriously as a candidate. He got trounced by a guy who no one with any sense of reality takes seriously as a candidate. That's a pretty pathetic position for someone who wants to be seen as a credible front-runner. His devastating come-from-behind slingshot strategy is not sounding real plausible right about now.
Hum,
We'll know in about a month how plausible Rudy's strategy was, but if his lead in the national polls holds up, he will be in good shape. Consider this: what would more closely correlate with those national polls, the votes of a couple hundred thousand Iowans or votes of tens of millions of Americans from all different regions of the country?
Huckabee was outspent 20-1.
And he whooped Flipping Mitt's Phony Butt.
He gave a very good speech.
Fred writes: "We'll know in about a month how plausible Rudy's strategy was, but if his lead in the national polls holds up, he will be in good shape. Consider this: what would more closely correlate with those national polls, the votes of a couple hundred thousand Iowans or votes of tens of millions of Americans from all different regions of the country?"
Why in the world would his lead hold up as he loses in state after state? Repiglicans have no deep personal affection for Il Douche - they just want some creature on their ticket who can win. With each loss his numbers will go down - they've already been going down, even before Iowa. And each time he makes an appearance with that Botox-grinned wife of his he loses more votes.
The money's going to dry up very quickly, and Rudy and Judy can go back to treating "the little people" like crap full-time. And maybe Rudy can spend some more time at Ground Zero, begging for change and talking about what a hero he was, until some firefighters walk by and kick him in the nuts.

Who cares? The big question is if McCain can outpoll the nobodies around him and get third or still lose out to Ron Paul or the warm corpse of Fred Thompson.
