Idea of the Day

11 Jan 2008 05:27 pm

Britt Peterson: "Unity08's founders, old media hands Gerald Rafshoon and Doug Bailey, have just left to work on drafting Bloomberg, taking most of the credibility and experience Unity08 ever had with them and leaving celebrity promoter Sam Waterston to his own devices. Will he form a joint L&O ticket with Thompson?" Sounds good to me.

Re Michael Bloomberg

One has to wonder about Mr. Yglesias' antipathy toward Mayor Bloomberg, as to whether it's the latters' ethnicity which is at issue. Or is it that Mayor Bloomberg is a strong Israel supporter? To the Yglesias of the world, support of Israel is the kiss of death.

Elisabeth Rohm for Secretary of State.

Elisabeth Rohm for Secretary of State.

Is this because she's a lesbian?

As long as they make Ben Stone Attorney General I'll be happy.

In my opinion it's important to have a centrist hack without an R or D next to their name on the television rather than a centrist hack with an R or D next to their name because they would surely be more independent than their partisan counterparts.

"Antipathy"? Or maybe because a Bloomberg draft is just one more of those rich boy hobbies, like climbing the "7 peaks", or starting your own manned space effort. Like we need any more diversions from real electoral politics.

If anyone gave a rat's okole about Bloomberg as President, we'd already be mentioning him in the same breath as Ron Paul, and he'd have his name preprinted on ballots. Sorry, no smoke-filled room awaits. If he really wanted to run, his time would have been 'round about when Thompson announced.

I'm with Al.

You mean because Bloomberg is an Ashkenazic Jew, just like Matt?

Re Spencer Ackerman

Mr. Yglesias has made his antipathy for Jews who support Israel very clear. By the way, isn't Mr. Yglesias a Sephardic Jew?

If HRC is nominated, I'll be looking for some independent somewhere to vote for.

I'd hate to have to hand a vote to the Reps... blech...

Matt, as I understand it, is one quarter Cuban non-Jew, and three quarters Ashkenazic Jew. And Matt clearly doesn't think much of anybody, Jew or not, who stridently defends expansionist Israeli policies. The idea that a Jew is an anti-Semite is one which requires fairly strong evidence, I think, not just a distaste for the unsavory policies of the State of Israel.

Besides which, this is a ridiculous troll. Matt doesn't like Bloomberg because he thinks his entrance into the race would do little more than throw the election to the GOP.

Can someone do a MIMS-esque Venn diagram for SLC's 'Jewier-Than-Thou' act?

So did this pair, Rafshoon and Bailey, find a way to get paid for this gig? Let me guess yes. Were further paychecks in question? Let me guess yes.

I don't know much about Bloomberg but, I do suspect he will get in if the democrats nominate Hillary.
And if the democrats, for the upteenth time in the past 30 years insist on nominating another loser establishment candidate in Hillary, I will vote for Bloomberg just to vote against Hillary and the stupidity of my party.

This is obviously just the final step in Dick Wolf's master plan.

Mr. Yglesias has made his antipathy for Jews who support Israel very clear.

Now I'm confused. Does this mean that the Jew is the Jew of liberal fascism?

Re John

"The idea that a Jew is an anti-Semite is one which requires fairly strong evidence, I think, not just a distaste for the unsavory policies of the State of Israel."

Ever hear of a couple of shitheads named Noam Chomsky and Norman Finkelstein?

SLC, why must you be so disgusting? Is it possible to complain and not be disgudting?

SLC is a Nazi.

Whereas Matt is only semi-antisemitic. Less than semi, actually, if he's only 1/4 Cuban.

Matt is like a Florida COngressional district demographic in the flesh. Which district, I don't know for sure.

Credibility? Really?

Re John Emerson

I greatly prefer Steven Emerson. John Emerson is a poopyhead.

A McCoy-Branch or Branch-McCoy ticket? I think not.
Too many sore points. Last fall's Lost Episodes showed how Jack angrily quit the DA's office and ran against his boss, trouncing him heavily and sending the old boy limping back to Tennessee.
