Maybe I Should Be More Trusting

27 Feb 2008 12:14 pm

City Council member Phil Mendelson says he's concerned that DCPD detectives are carrying too many cases:

Police officials said that caseloads are manageable. Most detectives who work such crimes have about 10 cases at a time, they said, although some who work east of the Anacostia River have slightly higher caseloads. Those detectives tend to have more domestic violence cases, which are often easier to close, they said.

It couldn't possibly be that people who live east of the Anacostia River are much poorer and thus have less political clout and therefore enjoy inferior city serbices of all kinds, right?

What does South Beach have to teach us about reducing crime in Baltimore? I mean, Southeast?

I'm a murder police. I work murders. I don't fuck with no make-believe. I don't jerk shit around. I catch a murder, and I work it.

"...some who work east of the Anacostia River have slightly higher caseloads."

Sorry, but that doesn't sound like rampant discrimination. It's easy to believe that people living in Anacostia do receive second-rate public services, but that statement does little to prove it.

What's this about Serbs now?

Wow - you're not even trying the whole proofreading/spellcheck thing anymore, are you?

Although I do rather like the idea that they're getting lower-quality embassy burnings . . .
