On Monday, General Petraeus -- the unfailing font of wisdom who Must Be Listened To At All Times -- praised Syria for its enhanced cooperation with our forces in Iraq. Naturally, yesterday Bush issued some new anti-Syrian sanctions tied to Syria's lack of cooperation with our efforts in Iraq.

Actually, I think the President should be considered the head.
Excellent, extending our policies of strategic ambiguity...
Lewis/superdelagates = "The nominee will be SELECTED not ELECTED."
If the gerrymandered primary vote doesn't produce a winner, superdelagates should go with the total vote getter, or at least the person who got the most vote in their "area" (e.g., a congressperson goes with their district, a senator with their state, others with the total vote). Don't count Michigan or Florida unless they re-vote and pro-rata the caucus states by their population.
Are you suggesting that Obama is going to get the superdelegates from Syria, Lymon?
In any case, Matt's "Petraeus Praises Syria" line doesn't fit with the actual quote from Petraeus. Getting a little heavy on the newspeak there, Matt.
You can't resist a dig at General Petraeus -- even when he does something that helps you take a shot at Bush. The Petraeus-baiting might be red meat for some hard core types on the left, but it seems an odd tack for a 'progressive' with mainstream pretensions at this point. Is this a half-assed replay of your attempt to whittle at Petraeus's reputation in the run-up to his Congressional testimony? Can we expect more of this between now and his next appearance on Capitol Hill?
Good point, Robert Powell. Here's the actual Petraeus quote:
""The flow of fighters is down, we think by about 50 percent," Petraeus told Reuters in an interview.
"It’s a result not just of Syrian activity, although there has been some. It’s the result of source countries making it tougher to fly as a military age male," he added."
OK, how much longer until this joker is out of office?
"OK, how much longer until this joker is out of office?"
Ask The Atlantic.
"It’s the result of source countries making it tougher to fly as a military age male," he added."
Say what?
What the hell does that mean?
Okay, it means this:
"Much of the fall in numbers was due to countries barring young men from flying to the Syrian cities of Damascus and Aleppo on one-way tickets, said Petraeus."
I'd say that's bullshit. Anybody ever heard of cars? Buses?
If Al Qaeda or the Saudis can afford to give these guys plane tickets, they can afford to get them into the country some other way.
It's fishy.
I must confess that, shamefully, I took buses on occasion to move from one country to another.
Moreover, I recall that there was a terrorist some time ago whose name I forgot, but his distinction was that the number of legs he had was fluctuating. Saddam was accused of helping him amputate a leg wounded in Afghanistan, then he was reported seen with two legs, I forgot the final status, but with the joint help of Saddam and USA he managed to become a leader of Iraqi al-Qaeda.
So, the reports were that he took a bus from Emirates to Saudi Arabia, then another to Jordan, and then finally to Iraq, (where Saddam hugged him to his bosom, let have an operation in Baghdad and find secure refuge in no-flying zone enforced by our Air Force).
Hard to tell how much of this story was accurate, but I hope that at least the detail that you can get around by bus in those parts is accurate.

What else is new. In this administration, the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing.
