John McCain's locked it up. No surprise, but now it's official. Apparently he's going to go to the White House for a laying-on of hands and then Bush can start working his fundraising mojo to help McCain fill up the coffers with special interest cash.

"...for a laying-on of hands..."
Like touching a leper.
Wolf Blitzer keeps calling this a historic win. How is "grumpy old white man wins Republican nomination" in any way historic?
Just what McCain needed: an ego boost.
everything about a presidential campaign is historic, since it's the kind of thing that will get recorded in history books. maybe Wolf was being sardonic.

Well, it just happened, and is therefore in the past (i.e., "history"). Therefore, it's "historic," by definition. Duh.
I hope the Bush laying-on of hands and every supportive word spoken by Bush about McCain is captured in print and film. Then the Democrats can whip them out (along with the infamous hug photo) and ask: Is this what you want? More of the same failed policies of George W. Bush? If you do, then vote for John McCain. They are two peas in a pod.
Or maybe he intended to refer to McCain and his campaign as "prehistoric," and misspoke.
Just one thing:
When the dark hours come in November and a liminal uncertainty creeps into the polling booth like some ominous fog, and the name McCain stands athwart to that of Obama...well, I'm just wondering.
What Stephanie said. The rationale may be to get this done in March, but we'll be seeing the clips in October.
I counted eleven "My Friends" and one "My Friend" in reference to Huckabee.
Now that McCain has acknowledged himself to be the GOP nominee, is the Republican primary over? Specifically, can McCain call his campaign expenditures between now and the GOP convention "primary campaign spending"?
If he plans to take public financing for the general election campaign, why does he need Dubya to raise money for him? To run "primary campaign" ads with??

Not if the FEC has anything to say about it!
