Whatever you think of the initial decision to form the band, the success of The Surge last night was undeniable and those who can't see it desperately need to remove their ideological blinders.

good job
Oh, please. Now playing one gig at a small club is success? The Liberals have obviously moved the goalposts WAAAAAY over there. You know perfectly well that there are a number of benchmarks of success for these kinds of things: signing with a major label, getting a #1 hit, headlining a sold out show at the Verizon Center. Until ALL those benchmarks are met, the Surge will be a failure.
Hurrah! This band name joke is in really bad taste! Rock on!
No, Dead Kennedys is in bad taste. The Surge is a hoot. Audio! The internets demand audio! You all have cellphones dammit.
I remember back in the day there used to be a band called The Very Idea of Fucking Hitler. I wonder if Matt would've been able to think up a joke for that one.
I'm glad that The Surge Is Working, but, the question must be asked: can we maintain The Surge?
I would have been more impressed if the guy beating the drum for the Surge hadn't been wearing a helmet and flak jacket, been surrounded by several hundred marines and Blackhawk helicopters weren't flying overhead. Or perhaps I shouldn't have eaten that brownie before I went to the show...

Also explains the double post.
I'd like to point out that "the Surge" is also the name of AEI's softball team. Seriously.
I saw those guys at Tramps way before they were cool. (No you didn't Linus.) You don't know that. (Yes I do Linus. You weren't invited therefore you didn't see them.) Well, anyhow, I heard they do an excellent cover of the 1983 classic "Eat the Rich" by Krokus. (Everyone loses Swiss metal Linus but they don't do that song.) Not yet maybe. We'll see.
I heard The Doors opened at 7:00. Nice to see they're still playing, even without Jim Morrison.
