This video makes a very important point about American public policy:
It would be a mistake to let undue concern about the robot threat blind us to the problem of Norse Gods and other unconventional superheroes.

This is all wrong. Loki, not Thor, is the appropriate Norse god for metalheads.
Lmao, I don't think they've even started production on the Thor movie, having only decided on Matthew Vaughn as the director late last year. Anyone know why they decided to replace Eric Bana with Edward Norton in the new Hulk movie? Sure, the first movie sucked, but this just seems like an odd casting decision.
Bragan, Need I remind you of Bathory's "Odin's Ride Over Nordland"? Clearly Odin is the preferred choice for metalheads.
Heh, never mind. It says on Wikipedia that he was offered the role for the first movie, but turned it down specifically because it sucked and Eric Bana didn't want to do a second film.

Mike
I can't believe how excited I am for Ironman. (I'm sure there are sadder sentences in the English language, but I'm coming up blank right now.)
Disposable Heroes, Metallica also appropriate
It really wasn't Bana's fault though. If Ang Lee had stayed away from all the parental issues & angst it would have been a far better film. I have a feeling we'll see the Avengers & Captain America movie before the Thor flick.
Metal is not a "problem." Gods in our midst are not a "problem".
No no, Norse Gods are very much the solution.
Quetzalcoatl Returning The Stupid!!! It Burns!!!!!
I thought they wanted to introduce some of the bigger name Avengers in their own movies before doing an Avengers movie itself. Supposedly, Captain America is the next movie they are working on, to be released next Summer. But they don't appear to have cast it yet. It best not suck. At least they prioritized that over Ant-Man. I still can't believe Hank fucking Pym is getting his own damned movie.
Also, a Thor movie is in development. I don't believe an Avengers movie is anything but speculation yet. Lets see how they decide to blow through the movies 300 Million dollar budget...
Washerdreyer's link leads to an awesome thing that you should all read.
Anything by Hammerfall would be more appropriate for Thor to rock out to.
Notice how superior the 40+ year old Jack Kirby drawings (which predominate) are to the other Thor iterations in the video? Admittedly, I might be a bit biased since I bought them fresh at the candy store for 12 cents back in the day.
Why Thor should worry Americans. Because of the horrific consequences of making a movie based on something written by David Brin?
Well, it looks like Matthew's musical taste is improving.

Posted by soullite | March 28, 2008 3:55 PM" Fight Club? If they cast some blond CW douche to play Cap, I'll freeze him in ice. Fun fact: the actor who played Cap in that horrible early 90's Captain American movie was J.D. Salinger's son. Why they made the Red Skull Italian I have no idea.
I thought they wanted to introduce some of the bigger name Avengers in their own movies before doing an Avengers movie itself. Posted by soullite Yeah but I read somewhere (Superherohype?.com or Ainitcool?.com) that they wanted to target the Avengers movie to come out during the same time that the Justice League movie comes out. And JL is in progress right now for summer 09. And really the only movie they need to set up Avengers should be the Cap movie. I really don't see Ant Man coming out BEFORE the Avengers movie. I've also read they have Black Panther, Luke Cage, Nick Fury movie in the pipeline also. Now if Marvel had any sense(recent editoral comic decisions have given me pause)they would get Joss Whedon to do a Runaways movie, now that would ROCK!!!
Marlowe: Right on, man, Jack Kirby was "The King". And I remember ten cent comics. I got started on them just before they went to twelve cents back in the '60's. As an aside, anybody think we should start calling McCain "Captain AmeriCain" as a joke, instead of "Captain Amnesty"? McCain really thinks the US is some sort of "Captain America" fantasy, when in reality it's more like the Captain America featured in the "Doom: 2099" series - a deluded, drug-snorting fake who is controlled by corporations intent on bleeding America dry.
Old joke from my youth: [Norse God, announcing himself to mortal girl he has honored]: I'm Thor! [Girl, indignantly]: You're Thor? You're Thor? Why, I'm tho thor I can hardly pith!
The Weekly Standard had a link to this last week.
you guys should check out the latest episode of ultimate spiderman #120... if you've been following that comic book, that issue is unbelievably layered for a comic, and has an implicit look see at structural racism. Ignore the gratuitous Xmen crossover page, tho'
Why is Thor playing on Mickey Dolenz' drum kit? Very not metal.
Frank Miller kicks Jack Kirby's ass (though admittedly Miller may have needed Kirby for his career to exist at all). I also feel some of SomeCallMeTim's pain, though excited might be an eggageration for me. I still like his handle too. Pehraps I should go with "AknightWhoSaysKnee" ...
I've found it amusing that the DFH-ish nature of Ultimate Thor is so antipodal to the xenophobic shitbags who nominally associate themselves with him as some racial purity paragon.
