The Truth About Kriston Capps

01 Mar 2008 02:57 pm

Kriston Capps, University of Texas alumn, takes the student newspaper to task for its petty decision to endorse Hillary Clinton on the apparent grounds that Barack Obama wouldn't get them extra debate tickets. What Capps isn't telling you is his own shameful record of Texas ticket shenanigans when, as a member of the Liberal Arts Council, he sold his fellow students down the river and supported enhanced science requirements in exchange for access to the Dean's box at Texas football games. Shocking stuff, but true. Or at least truthy.

Sure, Obama took many under his spell when he graced our city with his presence early in his campaign, but we think he prematurely considered his work in Austin done.

We've taken into account our communication with each campaign as an indication of how each candidate's government would function. Upon finding out the debate would not be open to students, Obama's campaign told us there was nothing they could do to get more students into the debate, whereas the Clinton camp was sympathetic in offering assistance. This makes us wonder how far Obama would go for us as president.

It's not just that their endorsement choice is small-minded and catty. They're pinging Obama for failing to sell out to a special interest in order to court an endorsement. Yeesh

Oh, and Kriston Capps should be ashamed. Still, what's wrong with science requirements?

Well, everyone has their price, and this is UT football we're talking about.

What are "enhanced science requirements" and why are they bad

Wait, wait, wait. Some backstory here? I'm UT '02 and this must have been after my time.

This is why the really smart kids are at Texas A&M.

We like the truthy.

The kids at UChicago had a Fun-In to protest the reduction of required courses.

So Kriston is to blame for my rejection letter from Harvard Law.

The nerve! Who the fuck do they think they are? How could they endorse Clinton? Andrew, I tell you, this is an outrage! Calm down Matt, we will win this, now drink your slurpy.

Wow, what a scandal!

This reminds me of the wonderful effort our Congress has put into nailing athletes on steroids while our President has killed a million Iraqis for zip.

Matt wins the Most Relevant Blog Post of the Year Award early.

Matthew, there you go being all neo-conservative again with your Hitler of the Month routine. Kriston Capps is not Hitler, at worst he's maybe Franco or Mussolini, or maybe Darius the III or Lou Grant; just another run of the mill dictator from a banana republic.

So what are we supposed to do now? Invade Kriston Capps? Or just occupy UT and let the Aggie militias start a civil war with the hipsters? Haven't you learned anything?

The stupid people are the ones who don’t get education, at all. The real thing is the liberal arts, the humanities. The rest is just voc-ed.

But the latter is all many people value. And the real thing? They have contempt for it.

Hey. Enhance those science requirements. Cut out those girlie-man humanities courses.

That's nothing next to the forged parking pass imbroglio.
