TV Stuff

15 Mar 2008 02:16 pm

I'm gonna be on Fox News at 5:20 PM Eastern tomorrow to talk about the Michigan/Florida delegations controversy and how its existence proves that Democrats are craven appeasers who want terrorists to devour your children.

UPDATE: Sorry, sorry, I'll be on today at 5:20.

When trashing your progressive and stabbing your party in the back for a little TV face time, be sure to wear a nice tie.

Doesn't some other useless cable news channel want you, Matthew? Why only Fox?

Good luck with that meme, Matt. So, why don't Republicans have a Michigan/Florida problem?

be sure to point out that by going on a network that has spent years calling Democrats abetting-terrorist traitors that you are not endorsing that network, or its views, and that you officially renounce, reject and condemn its past statements.

I share the views of my fellow commenters. You're going to go there and pretend like you're on a serious news program, to advance your personal career, while the hosts use you to attack the Democratic party. Don't think that you'll hold your own; your medium is writing, theirs is TV. They have the advantage. They decide what the questions are; you just get to answer.

It would be kind of cool if you managed to sneak in the notion that John McCain has fallen and can't get up.

Just sayin'.

If I'm not afraid to read Matt's left-'0-center blog, why are you afraid to watch Fox News? Can't handle diverse opinions? For what it's worth, there are more Democrats who appear on Fox than there are conservatives who comment on this blog. Try not to be so close-minded. That's not very 'liberal' of you.

The issue is important. I hope you spend a moment to understand it. I do not recall you actually paying attention to the issue at this blog. Please go prepared, even if you are, as I expect you will, wil be taking a pro-Obama position.

I think your endorsement of Obama should be disclosed as well.

Congrats. When Colmes gets used up you'll be in line to be Hannity's bitch.

Nice to see Armando on thought police patrol.

regardless of the questions posed your replies must lead with "THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR HILLARY!!!"

im proud of matty's success, and think it is a little absurd to expect him to refuse an invitation to be on national television... and yet, fuck fox news. i wish you would just go on msnbc or cnn

So, why don't Republicans have a Michigan/Florida problem?

Because the Republicans decided before the primaries that the penalty would be strip the ML/FL delegations to half the original number of delegates... then McCain's win in FL pretty much gave him the nomination, even though it was half-size, because it was winner-take-all (I guess that would be winner-take-half, losers take none).

Devouring my children ordinarily wouldn't appease me. The way they're behaving this afternoon, however . . .

Mr. Yglesias must be hard up to appear on the fascist news channel. I guess Mr. Yglesias is auditioning for Mr. Colmes job to be deliver fascist cocksucker Hannitys' blow jobs.

As one of the only bloggers ever to get a photo spread in the NY Times Style section, Matt, you've got to do us all proud.

I vote for the outfit you wore in the last "Table." Those muted greens + sunglasses send complex mixed messages. Earthy? -- or edgy? Geeky -- or geek-chic? I kind of suspect, though, that earth tones (as well as ambiguity in general) are verboten on Fox; aggressively simple-minded primary colors seem to be the house style.

Fuck Fox, and fuck liberal commentators who appear on Fox.

And Fuck Fred's false equivalencies.

It would be kind of cool if you managed to sneak in the notion that John McCain has fallen and can't get up.
Just sayin'.

Actually, if John McCain did fall, he would need help getting up because the damage the communists did to his shoulders would prevent him from doing so on his own. And 270 out of 300 million Americans would proudly assist him.

The Democratic Part obviously has a real mess - 2 of the 3 most populous Swing States disenfranchised by a Party that has preached for 8 years "Count Every Vote!!". And on behalf of it's two affirmative action Presidential candidates that were nourished on the idea that they were more entitled than other candidates to breaks under identity politics who now both deeply believe in their entitlements.

And the only solutions are to seat all or part of the delegations (which would unlease enormous anger in either the Obama or Hillary camp depending on how it was done) or - a do-over election that would of necessity cause "civil rights issues and voter disenfranchisement" problems.

Quite a dilemma, Matt! Meanwhile the country enjoys the dogfight...

Two words:

Bulletproof vest

Good luck!

Crikey, I'd help the old man get up, but that doesn't mean I'd vote for him.

Refusing to seat the Michigan and Florida delegations was idiotic, but I'd still be stunned if somehow Obama (assuming he is the nominee) were able to lose the former in November.

This:

Actually, if John McCain did fall, he would need help getting up because the damage the communists did to his shoulders would prevent him from doing so on his own. And 270 out of 300 million Americans would proudly assist him.

Hilarious. Classic.

It's the 270 calculation that makes it art.

Remember to say stuff like, "Democrats can't have their Heads in the Sand about Florida and Michigan." Then stare directly into the camera and wink. Then mouth the words "Buy My Book!" Don't just bring on a copy of your book to hold up, wear a T-shirt or maybe a trucker's cap with the book's logo on it, because people don't like books, especially hardcover books (they're heavy and more expensive).

Show business!

Fox! Matt, the fame is not worth it. Don't help them as they do not intend to help you.

Don't forget to talk loud and fast. You'll be devoured otherwise.

uh oh! someone's been preempted...

Oops. Building collapses. Bodies. Fox News. No Matty.

I wonder what the "disaster" threshold is for pre-empting normal programming? Sometimes there's the "death watch" of a plane landing without landing gear or the "death count watch" of a massive car pile up or ship plowing into a dock, but how is it that 3 people dying when a crane collapses makes it into the breaking news category? There's got to be a manual or guideliness for this I would think.

It's raining somewhere. That's some national breaking news worthy of preemption.

You may be a Republican, I am a Democrat. But we can still be friends. I'll hug your elephant and you kiss my ass.

Now now, tom.a. We'll see the lovely Matt another time.

It's obvious why Fox wants Matt.

Fox only puts on wannabe pundits and Matt certainly qualifies.

Plus, the level of Matt's reasoning manages to destroy what little credibility Democrats have, which is an obvious plus for Fox (not that Fox knows what "reasoning" is in any event.)

Pre-empting Matt, by the way, demonstrates my points above. He simply isn't significant enough compared to a crane collapse in New York.

Hell, we had a crane collapse in San Francisco which killed a couple people some years back and I don't recall that being serious national news.

"Don't forget to talk loud and fast. You'll be devoured otherwise."

Have you ever watched Matt on "The Table"? That's what he DOES. That's why Ross goes "ghetto" every time - he wants to punch Matt in the mouth for talking too much.

And 270 out of 300 million Americans would proudly assist him.

Of the remaining 30 million Americans:

* 7.5 million are themselves incapacitated in a way that prevents them from rendering assistance to Sen. McCain, even though they would like to do so. Examples: Charles Krauthammer; Sunny von Bulow

* 9.75 million want the United States to lose in Iraq because they hate their own country. Examples: Noam Chomsky; Admiral William Fallon

* 12.75 million would leave McCain lying helpless on the ground, and sarcastically suggest that helping him back to his feet is just the sort of job that illegal immigrants do because Americans can't be bothered with such menial tasks. Examples: Lou Dobbs; National Review's editorial board

"im proud of matty's success, and think it is a little absurd to expect him to refuse an invitation to be on national television... and yet, fuck fox news. i wish you would just go on msnbc or cnn"

Why, so a third fewer viewers would see him? Fox's ratings are higher than CNN's and MSNBC's combined.

And if McCain fell down in front of me, I'd nail his kneecaps to the floor with railroad spikes so he'd never get up again.

If Richard Steven Hack fell down in front of me, I'd wait for his inevitable transformation into a an immortal post-human being to render such stupid chimpanzee concepts as being prone vs. upright obsolete.

Well, not "wait" as in "stand around waiting for it to happen." Just "wait" as in "walk away and continue with my ordinary life, while being in a passive, dispositional state of waiting for the transformation with regard to RSH's humanity."

"If Richard Steven Hack fell down in front of me, I'd wait for his inevitable transformation into a an immortal post-human being to render such stupid chimpanzee concepts as being prone vs. upright obsolete."

That was funny. Well done.
