Clearly, the first step to getting climate change under control is to put a price on carbon, either through a tax or else through a cap and trade system. But trying to work exclusively through that mechanism probably won't work, we need, in my opinion, to go further through massive subsidies for BP's products and other efforts to help them market themselves as the "green" oil company.

The global warming follies are already threatening millions in developing nations with starvation: The from-your-gullet-to-the-gas-tank programs for biofuels are coinciding with these food shortages, as more forests are felled for palm oil. Food riots in developing countries are causing death and destruction. Now, how much better is the cure than the disease?

Meanwhile, GE is reaping "windfall" profits as a major windmill manufacturer. The EU's cap-and-trade system is earning Euro-area electricity producers and industrial majors an extra 71 billion euros thanks to this income redistribution scheme -- sort of a Three-Card Monty for intellectuals.

Clearly, the Global Warming Prophets are simply trying to create proto-revolutionary conditions so as to install the Dictatorship of the Prole... er, Green Giant.
