HITS Evening Event

28 Apr 2008 12:23 pm

I'll be doing a reading/Q&A/signing event for Heads in the Sand at the Borders on 18th and L in Washington, DC Thursday at 6PM so folks whose "jobs" and such prevented them from coming to my CAP event on Friday should come by and check it out.

The UPS guy just arrived with my copy this morning. I'm also ploughing through Rhodes' Arsenals of Folly - should be some interesting synchronicity in the pairing...

If you're ever here in sunny Portland, OR, it would be awesome to have a schindig at Powell's.

Also, you're currently the #6 bestseller in the Amazon "Public Policy" section: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/10769/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_2_4_last

Newt Gingrich's latest screed is beating you out!

So when are you coming to St. Louis?

This would seem like the perfect opportunity to throw a pie in your face.

Jeez, Matt, is it really that hard to hold a local event after rush hour is over?

Just kidding. I should be able to attend this extravaganza. By the way, what flavor of pie is your least favorite?

No reason, just curious.

Two pie jokes before I could even get to post a comment. You've got to be quick with this crowd.

I laugh at your idle threats.

Will there be events scheduled in other cities (i.e., Chicago)?

Many of us with real "jobs" only wish that we finished early enough each day to attend an event at 6pm. This is DC - home of the "billable hours" in case you've forgotten...

I've got an event in NYC and an event in LA lined up. My ability to travel is basically limited by the willingness of someone or other to pay for me to travel -- the publisher doesn't seem to believe in funding book tours.

Well, I have a guest bedroom you can use. Maybe we can scrounge you up an airline ticket, as well.

Ethel-to-Tilly: if you're really an associate you'll head over to the reading and then return to the office at 7:30 - you can pick up a pizza on your way back.

Ethel-to-Tilly: I try so hard to feel bad for the lawyers in this town that make that lifestyle choice, but somehow it just never happens. ;-)

I have class (finals!) not too far away from there at that exact time. If we get out early I'll try to stop by, but there is also the RJD2 show that night...

DC is your hometown, you should be doing dozens of these things.

Matt: "the publisher doesn't seem to believe in funding book tours."

Not for YOUR book - since the publisher can't find his entire inventory, it having been shipped to Pyongyang, North Korea, from under his nose.

If you were J. K. Rowling, however - or even Ann Coulter - he might. Of course, you'd have to be better looking or have a bigger mouth than even you do.

RSH, WTF is up with this North Korea thing?

I'm quite serious about getting you to St. Louis. Give me a shout if you're interested.

55, it's a joke! I don't want to read Matt's book (just because), so I threatened to hack his publisher and send all copies to North Korea.
