HuckaPAC

16 Apr 2008 12:28 am

Contrary to my fears, it looks like Mike Huckabee isn't planning on detonating a nuclear weapon in a major American city. Instead, he's starting a Political Action Committee. Disappointingly, it's not called HuckaPAC or "Huck, a PAC" either of which would have been strong choices. Instead we need to put up with HuckPAC which is lame.

Meanwhile, as I remember it the big first-order problem with Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign is that even when he was surging in the polls he couldn't really raise any money. Conversely, what was so impressive about the Huckabee campaign was its ability to achieve a fair measure of success without money. A PAC, however, is just a money-raising and money-spending machine. So what's Huckabee gonna do? He still might be a decent VP pick for McCain, though.

Do you need to have watched 24 to get it?

Yeah, Huckabee's site had this stupid countdown timer on the front page announcing this "big deal".

So Matt said call Jack Bauer.

Lameness doesn't get any lamer.

Except my having to explain this.

This comment on the site linked to above is funnier:

"He might also be trying to tell us when Jesus is coming. However, I don't think that means the bomb idea is now wrong. Just that Jesus will be bringing a bomb with him. It's simple logic."

So now I assume Huckabee will be saying that Jesus is bringing money with him. You know these Jews...right, Chris Ford?

Breaking news: Clinton in big trouble!

http://www.abcnews.go.com/PollingUnit/DemocraticDebate/story?id=4658063&page=1

Barack Obama has knocked down one of the three tent poles of Hillary Clinton's campaign for president, surging ahead of her as the candidate Democrats see as most likely to win in November. He's challenging her on leadership as well, leaving only experience as a clear Clinton advantage in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll.

On the eve of their debate before the Pennsylvania primary next week, Democrats by a 2-1 margin, 62-31 percent, now see Obama as better able to win in November -- a dramatic turn from February, when Clinton held a scant 5-point edge on this measure, and more so from last fall, when she crushed her opponents on electability.

The poll finds other pronounced problems for Clinton. Among all Americans, 58 percent now say she's not honest and not trustworthy, 16 points higher than in a precampaign poll two years ago. Obama beats her head-to-head on this attribute by a 23-point margin.

The number of Americans who see Clinton unfavorably overall has risen to a record high in ABC/Post polling, 54 percent -- up 14 points since January. Obama's unfavorable score has reached a new high as well, up 9 points, but to a lower 39 percent.

What was so impressive about the Huckabee campaign was its ability to achieve a fair measure of success without money. A PAC, however, is just a money-raising and money-spending machine. So what's Huckabee gonna do?

He's going to use the PAC to build his donor base and run again in 2012.

PACkabee!

Phuck him and the televangelists he rode in on.

You would think that a Baptist preacher would win God's Own Party's primary in a landslide wouldn't you?

I would like to take the time to thank ***blackcentury.com*** for the wonderful service they have provided. I met my husband through the site 1 year ago, we were two people of different cultures and countries. Yet, because of this great website we were brought together after finding love. Maybe you will love it.

Yeah, not a bad VP possibility. We've had a conniving, dishonest sociopath in that slot for over seven years now, what's another four or eight more?

the big first-order problem with Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign is that... he couldn't really raise any money... A PAC, however, is just a money-raising and money-spending machine.

A PAC needs much less money than a presidential campaign to function. The more money it gets, the bigger it is, but a PAC could easily survive and be effective on a few million dollars a year. He can easily raise that much. In addition, there are many people who might have liked Huckabee and generally agreed with his message, but realized how unqualified he was to be President. Especially with losing some control in the Republican party, he can try to position himself as an outlet for some of their donations. Not sure what his PAC will actually do, but it will probably keep Huckabee in the pubic sphere and help him earn a nice salary.

I also like "Huck a PAC." No comma makes it an imperative sentence worth following.

Apparently his weight loss tome on the virtues of suction, trance, and a little coke Oprah can wait.
