Monday Immaturity Blogging

14 Apr 2008 03:17 pm

I don't come into the office every day, but perhaps I should, for if I hadn't come in today I wouldn't have been turned on to the obscene URLs concept. Basically, some organizations have names that, while totally vanilla and inoffensive, don't translate well to the space-free domain of the URL. Consider, for example, Pen Island "the best pens on the internet" and available at penisland.net which if you, like me, have the emotional age of a twelve year-old will find hilarious.

I blame it on the Great Underscore Shortage.

Settle down, Beavis!

I don't get it.

Ha! They had to settle for penisland.net because I registered penisland.com in 1994!

It would be funnier if most of the websites, like www.penisland.net, weren't fake.

Don't worry, Matt, a lot of people are turned on to obscene URLs.

"molestation nursery" bwahahahahaha

Ah, Matthew's pandering to his readers again.

I like it. I like it.

My small penis jokes are slowly deflecting the great tanker that is the blogosphere.

Tomorrow, we conquer the world, Pinky!!

To give proper credit: most of the items from the link were presented on an episode of "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" that aired about a year ago.

Apparently, politically-savvy NPR listeners also enjoy this sort of low humor--I know I laughed pretty hard at it.

Wait, www.penisland.net is fake? What can you believe in anymore???

Wait, www.penisland.net is fake? What can you believe in anymore???

Sounds like more fodder for the war of semantics between Trebek and Connery.

Thank goodness for the Internet; otherwise it might take up to three years for jokey lists to percolate through to everyone.

You shop names don't typically end in "Island"?

I think the ones that are real have realized that hyphens exist.

hahahahaha!

When I'm online, I generally use a nom de plum, but my real world persona is a business consultant. For my consulting biz I own the following url: www.analyticeconomics.com. For completeness, I thought of what sorts of abbreviations for this site would make sense, and I thought of two. I reserved one of them: www.analyticecon.com, which redirects to the main site.

The other shortened version of www.analyticeconomics.com that came to mind is still available should anyone want it.

MY apparently didn't look at Pen Island website very carefully. He might have seen this:

"Whether you're looking for a long and skinny pen, a thick pen, a fountain pen that squirts ink, or even a black pen, we have just the one for you."

Not that subtle.

Welcome to the internet, would you like to learn about caturday?

Is Penis Island anywhere near MILF Island?
