Wow. I wasn't particularly planning to watch the Pistons-76ers series -- nice upset. This will be more grist for Dave Berri's mill as he tries to convince the world that Andre Miller is better than Allan Iverson.

It's true that it was sloppy, but the Sixers put out a lot of effort. They don't have talent at every position but they made a lot out of it despite not getting a good performance from their most physically gifted player (the other AI). Pistons were lackluster and forgot how to pass the ball to create shots for most of the 2nd half.
Hahaha. (don't like the Pistons)

I'm amazed the Sixers find a way to score enough points to go .500, let alone beat the Pistons in the playoffs.
They would be a contender if you added Kobe Bryant to their roster.
Ah crap. I'm a big Pistons fan but they just flat got beat at home with Philly blowing their doors off 27-16 in the 4th quarter. Oh well. Ball don't lie and tonight it said Philly was the better team. We'll see what the ball says in a best-of-seven.
Matthew is trying to stick the shiv into Petey some more. But, yes, Berri has been arguing since the Iverson trade last year - and I've agreed with him - that Iverson is overrated and Miller underrated. But more importantly here, Flip is a bad coach.
It is AllEn Iverson to you son.
It is AllEn Iverson to you.

Iverson played well today. I can't believe he's still so quick.
I'm not a big Sixer fan, but I was rooting for them after hearing Steven A. Smith completely dismiss them on ESPN yesterday. Basically, Smith was asked what Philadelphia could do to beat Detroit, and he said, "Nothing. They've got no chance." So I'm happy for another opportunity to prove to Mr. Smith that speaking loudly doesn't necessarily mean you know what the hell you're talking about.
Allan Iverson?
Seriously?
The epidemic of typos & sloppiness on this blog is so ridiculous that one almost has to believe that it's an intentional feature, not a bug.
Or can Matt really be *that* sloppy?
Steven A. Smith is a plague on the land - now there's something that can really unite America.
What on earth keeps him in that job?
When it comes to TV personalities, the louder you talk is more important than how sensible that talk is. Thus the Stephen A Smiths, Jim Romes, and Dick Vitales.
Apparently, ESPN wants to annoy the hell out of its viewers. That's the only way to explain Screamin A. Smith and, oh, about half the people they have doing baseball.
Steven A. Smith is sort of the David Brooks of TV sports.
You don't have to be right to keep getting promoted. You just have to talk with a lot of confidence.
Iverson played well today. I can't believe he's still so quick
I didn't see the Denver game today (stupid ABC decided to show the Pope's mass at Yankee stadium instead), but Iverson had a TS% of about 50% - not too great.
lol Steven A Smith is... well let's just put it in his words.
"You're talking about STEVEN A SMITH here! I mean, the guy, he NEVER GETS IT RIGHT. EVER! You know what I'm saying? I mean, maybe it's just me, is it just me? Am I making sense? IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING WHAT I'M SEEING? Because from where I'M sitting, Steven A Smith makes NO SENSE."
Every time Dave Berri says something stupid, god kills a kitten. Every time Matt links to Dave Berri saying something stupid, I kill one.
Absent personality issues, which are considerable, there isn't a GM in the league who would trade Iverson for Miller, straight up. This is barking madness.
Oh, and failing to get Rip Hamilton a touch on two possessions with the game on the liner should be fireable.
Charles, perhaps you need to take a second look at exactly who the GMs are in the NBA before you make such blithe dismissals.
but Iverson had a TS% of about 50% - not too great.
I don't have a very good feel for True Shooting, but Iverson's poor free throw shooting must have been a significant drag on his TS%. The game never felt close enough to merit much attention to free throws, so they didn't factor into my comment above.
Does Denver even run an offense?
Matt,
You were among the first to say that Reggie Evans was a good unheralded acquisition. Good point! 11 points, and 14 rebounds last night!
Dan
" But more importantly here, Flip is a bad coach."
...on a team that really needs a good coach. Detroit is dysfunctional. Players change Saunders plays and defenses after time-outs. They ignore him when he talks. They might beat the Sixers, but they won't even get to play Boston.
Man, who really gives a shit about the Pistons. Did anyone watch that Nugget/Lakers game? Gasol was a beast! But i just wish someone would put Kobe's smug ass in the trunk of a car and push that car into river. Ivy and Carmello need to learn to play some motherfucking defense. That is all.

LOL! When that man comes on I usually start channel surfing or mute then make a damn sandwich. He's not only a fool but the loudest fool.

Amazing result - but really an ugly game at the end.
The Pistons went into one of those deep freezes you see from them surprisingly often this year - the Sixers gave them chance after chance to win and the Pistons refused to take them. Chauncey Billups missing free throws, everyone missing jumpers...
Of the four playoff games I've seen so far (yes, I do need a life) this was easily the sloppiest.
