The Hayes Stands Alone

16 Apr 2008 09:04 am

I haven't heard much about Doug Feith's new book, War And Decision, but Spencer Ackerman has a two post series which brings to light the amusing fact that Feith's book fails to back up Steven Hayes' various contentions about Iraq/al-Qaeda linkages even though as best anyone can tell Feith was the source for all of Hayes' "reporting" on the subject. This kind of thing, one assumes, is how Feith managed to acquire an unusually bad reputation amidst an administration packed to the ceiling with incompetents and war criminals.

"Stephen Hayes," I think.

Hayes' displeasure at being hung out to dry by Feith is equal parts amusing and pathetic. It's been obvious from the beginning that Hayes was essentially a vehicle by which the Cheneyites could distribute bogus "intelligence" to gullible Republican audiences without being called out for the false information.

Apparently Hayes wasn't in on the joke, and actually believed that he was a real journalist. Pretty sad.

"Seldom in my life have I met a dumber man."

You left out morons and lunatics. Aren’t they entitled to equal time?

Wonder how much Hayes gets paid to make a fool of himself in public. It is one thing to write books that only other wing nuts read, he goes on liberal shows and makes his case. He got his ass handed to him by Jon Stewart and then went on Maher's show and got beaten up by Bill and Tim Robbins.
