Mission Accomplished

02 May 2008 11:12 am

Seems like a good clip to me:

During the early years -- 2003-2005 or so -- McCain certainly was less of a blind Bush cheerleader than was your average Republican elected official, but things like this video underscore that that's not necessarily saying very much.

"certainly was less of a blind Bush cheerleader"? Where's the evidence for that? If anything, he was one of the worst.

Yeah, but according to McCain, things are different now. That's why he can support the Bush tax cuts, even further tax cuts, criticize the administration's handling of Iraq (while ignoring his own dumb statements at the start), abandon his view that long-term occupation of a Muslim nation is dumb, and on and on and on...

It's all different now, so nothing he's ever said is in any way inconsistent with things he saying now.

I think the guy is going senile.

Can't you guys read? The banner said "Mission Accomplished". Therefore, the mission was accomplished. Why is that so hard to understand?

In some sense, I actually think the Mission Accomplished was correct in marking the end of the war. The rest of the time has been nation building, which is infinitely harder.

On every ad, they should add that shot of Liebermania whispering vile nothings in the old geezer's ear. Hire some sepulchral voice-over actor to say: "If you need Joe Lieberman to tell you what's up - what's up with that?"

The Dems could run this clip unedited and win votes.

The only change I would suggest is that while McCain is speaking they have a picture of McCain embracing George Bush.

The one on the front of the book, "The Real McCain," would do nicely. You know, the picture that looks like McCain is trying to suckle?

Jim W is spot on. The weirdest thing about this clip is that he uses the existence of a banner as evidence for the end of conflict. Truly bizarre man.
