Compromise

18 Jun 2008 09:51 am

Condi Rice gets zen:

Obviously, in any compromise, there are compromises.

Jim Henley says:

Some would say this counts as a genuine advance in the Bush Administration understanding of human relations. I think, rather, that they’ve always known this truth, which is why they tried to avoid compromise unless desperate.

I say the whole thing smells of appeasement.

But isn't it first important that we realize that true compromise is to be found within?

This still doesn't actually indicate an understanding of the traditional meaning of "compromise." The GOP definition of compromise is a result where they get whatever they want, so she's basically saying, "in any result where we get whatever we want, there are things we want that we will get."

Obviously, in any compromise, there are compromises.

INFINITE RECURSION

Sounds like a very Rumsfeldian insight.
