Huckabee on TV

13 Jun 2008 11:12 am

A Fox News gig seems like a decent way for Huckabee to lay the groundwork for a 2012 presidential campaign, in terms of staying in the public eye. If he takes time to do some homework and kiss ass to a few major donors over the next few years, I think he'd be a formidable contender for the nomination.

I completely agree. I get the sense that he'll try something like the Douthat/Salam approach in 2012, which should be interesting, but I do wonder where the money's going to come from. Lots of the GOP donor base is pretty much just interested in lower taxes (for them) and that's probably part of the reason why he couldn't raise money this year. Maybe if he takes a lesson from Barack Obama and tries a small-donor model...I'll be interested in seeing how it goes.
