It seems that The Washington Post story on al-Hurra that I linked to earlier this afternoon was following an investigation that Dafna Linzer, formerly of the Post and now of the exciting new investigative journalism venture Pro Publica, did as Pro Publica's first story.

Linzer on al-Hurra

I'm not so sure the Post is following Pro Publica on this one. The Linzer story, as far as I can tell, was posted at 7 pm on June 22, while the Post piece ran on the front page on June 23. That's not enough time for the Post to throw together a long article, unless there's outright plagiarism involved. More likely is the two reporters were both on the story at the same time and Pro Publica dropped theirs a few hours early in order to be "first." This sort of thing happens a fair bit in journalism.

Wow. No comments at all. Is this a first for Matt?
Why didn't you do this as an update to the original post? Doesn't the software allow that?
